LOVE AND EGO

(This article was written by Alsibar, who has studied spiritual guides extensively, and the original text in Portuguese can be read at this link.)

LOVE, SURRENDER AND ECSTASY

What is love? Is it emotion? Is it a feeling? Is it something forged by thought? Can we love with purpose and awareness? What is surrender? Does surrender exist as long as the ego exists? Let's reflect together on this fascinating topic.

The poet and composer from Minas Gerais, Paulinho Pedra Azul, once said: "Love will be beautiful if two become one."

Jesus, in the fifth Gospel, stated: “When you make the two one, and when you make the inside like the outside, the outside like the inside, the above like the below, and when you make the male and the female one, so that the male is no longer male nor the female female (...) then you will enter the Kingdom.”

And the explanation is very simple. Love is the experience of oneness with everything and everyone. But this can only happen in the complete absence of the ego, because the ego cannot love. It is contrary to its nature. How could it? The ego is self-interest, desire, ambition, thought, time, limitation. Everything the ego does has an interest and a motive behind it. And what has interest and a motive is false.

“When you have finished all that you had to do, you will say, ‘I am an unworthy servant; I have only done my duty,’” Jesus said in the canonical Gospels.

"To act with the intention of obtaining something is to act from ignorance," Krishna states in the Bhagavad-Gita.

In short: as long as the ego exists, there is no love, since one is the negation of the other. From this, a simple conclusion follows: as long as the observer—the thinker—exists, there is no place for love.

Love is not emotion. Love is not sensation. Love is not desire. If your "experience" with love boils down to these three aspects, it's best to reflect on what you truly feel. Could there be a misunderstanding? Wouldn't it be better to observe this feeling, not through the lens of thought, but through wisdom, through direct perception, without the interference of words?

Undoubtedly, we can discover the Truth directly for ourselves, not through opinions, whatever they may be. The mind, thought, loves to possess everything. In this supposed "mastery" over all, it feels safe and happy, in the illusion of having understood. In the illusion of feeling something sacred and valuable. But can something as sacred and pure as love be touched by thought?

We know what thought is. We know its tricks, its cunning, its megalomania. It is important to transcend it. It is important that it withers away and starves to death. Only then will we be able to glimpse something truly sacred and pure. Something we call Love, but which in truth is beyond all classification, all words and names.

We tend to separate and classify love. We say it is sensual (eros) and fraternal (agape). But who made this division?

Thought created it, and when the thinker ceases to exist, are there any divisions or classifications left? Or does everything reduce to ONE?

Oneness doesn't mean feeling the same way about your friends as you do about your partner. It means that the ego no longer exists, fragmenting and classifying things in terms of words and definitions. Then everything has its place, its sphere, and its function. A new order and harmony are established, one that thought cannot recognize.

Then you will no longer confuse "desire" with love. You will not confuse "attachment" with love. Nor "possessiveness" with love. Nor "jealousy" with love. Not even "emotion" with love.

Many of us simply seek the feeling that "love" provides. But that is nothing more than a biological process, the result of the activation of proteins in brain chemistry, such as serotonin and dopamine.

That has already been scientifically proven. And when the brain stops producing them, what remains?

Nothing. And that's why people separate and remarry so often. They're always looking for new sensations, trying to feel the euphoria that this state provides. But when the brain stops producing those substances, we say, "Love is over. I have to find it again!" And we spend our lives trying to feel it again.

In general, we deceive ourselves into thinking the other person is to blame. We look for a thousand and one reasons to justify ending our marriages and relationships. But eternal or perfect relationships don't exist. That's an idealization. A dangerous and comfortable illusion we cling to because we don't want to face reality.

Nothing in this world of thought is perfect or lasting. Everything that thought creates, touches, and desires transforms, deteriorates, and dies, for that is its nature. Even if it doesn't want to accept it. And it cannot, for it is inherent in the nature of the ego to desire continuity, security, and comfort.

Only when man frees himself from the tentacles of the ego—which is the desire for permanence and continuity—only when the thinker—who is also ego—is completely extinguished, through the perception of his own limitations and nature, can something new, original, and true emerge.

In that "something" there is no tomorrow, no past, no future. In it, everything becomes clear and unified. There is no room for regrets, attachments, jealousy, or fragmentation. There is no room for feelings of possession or demands of any kind.

I know many won't understand me. And rightly so, because we only know the dimension of thought. And what I'm talking about is beyond that, it transcends it. And only those who reach this dimension can "feel" it, because it doesn't belong to the realm of words or definitions.

The "ego-thinker" tries to approach it, to master it, to possess it as it does with everything and everyone around it, but it cannot. Simply because that something is completely beyond its reach.

When all the barriers of illusion dissipate. When the feelings of "I" or "mine" no longer exist. When, even for an instant, man manages to free himself, to abandon the realm of thought and ego, then something new will emerge.

Don't try to feel it. Don't try to see it. Don't try to touch it, or control it. Some call it surrender. I don't like that term because it leads to many misunderstandings. If you understand "surrender" as "someone who gives up or surrenders to something or someone," you're mistaken, because the illusion of duality persists. In true surrender, there is no one (I, ego) who surrenders to something or someone (God, Guru).

"LOVE" can only arise when nothing remains in terms of ideas and concepts. Thus, only with the extinction and overcoming of concepts like "ego," "god," "surrender," and "love" can human beings truly perceive or feel something that transcends the ego's sphere of influence.

Otherwise, we will deceive ourselves, drug ourselves, and hypnotize ourselves. And this will have the same effect as any chemical drug that produces pleasure, euphoria, sensations, and dependence.

Love is the negation of all the chaos created and maintained by fragmented and fragmenting thought. We can only approach it indirectly and negatively, that is, by understanding what it is not.

On the other hand, if we try to contact it positively —through our knowledge, thoughts and desires— it will elude us because it is the only thing in the universe that has not been created or conditioned.

And only by reaching a state of unconditioning, of total "purification" of the thinker, of the past and of the known, can that something emerge. But it only "emerges" when we are no longer there to experience it, explore it, or use it as we please.

In other words: true surrender is a natural consequence of the extinction of the ego. Only when the ego relinquishes its desire to dominate, categorize, and possess everything can LOVE (that is, the supreme experience of Oneness) emerge.

The relationship between man and woman is simply a representation of that Oneness taught by the great masters, sages, and enlightened beings. The average person only achieves Ananda, or the ecstasy of Oneness, in rare moments of sexual intimacy. But mystics and enlightened beings reach that state naturally and spontaneously.

Love is the supreme experience of Unity, of Wholeness, with oneself, with others, and with the Universe. It is the quintessential mystical experience because the ego, with its sense of fragmentation and separation, ceases to exist.

But that state cannot be desired or sought. Only when, through meditation and self-knowledge, the human being frees himself from the illusions of the ego, does that reality arise.

As long as there is any movement of desire and ego — both at a conscious and unconscious level — as long as there is searching, effort or motives, however subtle they may be, Love will not arise.

Call it Love, Truth, God, Christ, Buddha, whatever you like. It doesn't matter, because it is beyond all words, concepts, and definitions.

THE SOUL MATES ACCORDING TO THE BALLARDS

Guy and Edna Ballard promoted the existence of soulmates among their followers, and also among Ascended Masters. And on this matter, Gerald B. Bryan, who was a former member of the I AM cult, commented the following:

Despite the thumbs-down attitude on marriage and the rearing of children the Ballard cult goes in strongly for what they call “Twin Rays.”

It must be explained that this had nothing whatever to do with ordinary twins or quintuplets, but presents the idea that each person is but half a human being — that somewhere in space is his other half, wandering, as it were, like a loosened planetoid from the part from which it was broken.

That is the deplorable condition the general run of humanity is in today, it seems, but the Ascended Masters and a few of the lucky I AM-ers have recovered their lost “halves” and are presumably living blissful lives together.

The “Accredited Messengers” of the Ascended Master Saint Germain are quite naturally one of those lucky couples, each being the Twin Ray of the other. Saint Germain himself has informed them that this is so.

Their book, The Magic Presence, is full of the Twin Ray idea, the lady and gentlemen Ascended Masters and young couples in it being paired off, for the most part, into blissful unions of Twin Rays.

In this book, along with Saint Germain’s other strenuous duties, he is revealed as a sort of Twin Ray specialist. Though peculiarly never mentioning his own Twin Ray, he can spot the Twin Rays of others most unerringly, and makes it his special Ascended Master duty to draw the young people together and tell them about the laws of love, marriage, and romance.

This all reads well in the Ballard story books (albeit a bit too heavenly for plain-thinking earth beings), but the sad fact remains that most of the Ballard students in the outer world do not know where their other “half” is.

Saint Germain, it seems, is the only Ascended Master who is able to tell them — and he talks only through Guy and Edna Ballard. The students, therefore, must get all their information concerning 50% of themselves from two human beings who also have a large and growing option on the other 50%.

It is sometimes difficult for the Ballards to remember who-is-who in this Twin Ray business, and Guy Ballard at least one time in his Messianic career made a deep and tragic error.

It seems that he had informed two of his favorite staff members that they were Twin Rays; and this, as usual, came from the great Saint Germain, the Twin Ray specialist, himself.

However, a little later on, the “Great Divine Director,” not being a specialist in this particular field and perhaps forgetful of what brother Saint Germain had said, severely startled a little group of staff members and students one evening by saying that ALL the staff members’ Twin Rays had ascended and were not to be found on the earth plane.

That was a most grievous slip for a Perfect Being to make, and it had the result, among other things, of getting one of the “halves” of the combination out of the movement; and then Saint Germain had to inform the other remaining “half” that he had to choose between the “Light of God that Never Fails” and his wife.

The gentleman wisely chose the latter, and so as a result of the Great Divine director’s slip the Ballard organization lost both of Saint Germain’s favorite Twin Rays.

Twin Rays today in the Ballard organization are almost as scarce as quintuplets. Even Donald Eros Ballard is without his Twin Ray on the earth plane (“Saint Germain” told him so) — a little matter which must have been fully realized by his wife in her recent divorce suit against him.

As a result of an apparent scarcity of Twin Rays among duly wedded I AM-ers, one or both of the partners may be inclined to look for some imaginary Twin Ray or Rays out in space somewhere. And sometimes it has not been an imaginary “Twin Ray” on some heavenly sphere either, but some ecstatic earth love on this very mundane sphere.

All of which is quite understandable in this weird cult which teaches that each I AM-er is only half an I AM-er, the other “half” being somewhere else — and may not at all be the present spouse.

OBSERVATION

The true Masters explained that soul mates do not exist and that in reality we all emerge from the same source (that is, all humans are soul mates among us, and that is why at a cosmic level we are considered a single entity called: the terrestrial humanity). And this is further proof that the Ballards were only inventing lies to manipulate their followers.

WHY SHOULD NOT MAGIC BE USED TO MAKE A PERSON FALL IN LOVE?

Many people use different esoteric techniques (ceremonial magic, or creative visualization, or intentional decree, or other techniques) to make a person fall in love with them, or to make a person leave his partner to marry them, etc.

And many religious believers also light a candle to a saint or God Himself to ask them to do the kind of petition I have just mentioned (and these believers, although they ignore it, they are performing a magical ritual, but under the decoration of their religion).

And if it is something understandable to want have a partner. It is not at all convenient to use these methods to manipulate the will of another person because the result will not please you.

And that is why Master Pasteur told to a woman the following:

« Do you remember all those candles that you burned begging God that this man you loved so much leave his wife to marry you?

Well, I inform you that your supplication will finally be fulfilled.

And I know what you are going to answer me:

-       "But it is a bit late because I wanted to marry with that man when I was twenty years old and not now that I'm eighty years old!"

(Audience laughter)

I know, however, it is only now that your request will be accomplished and it is now, at the age of eighty years, when that lover you wanted so much will reappear in your life to ask you marry him.

But this request, he will make you not only by love but also to find someone to support him because he spent most of his time having fun with his different lovers (because you were not the only mistress he had) and he didn’t work much time and now he does not have enough pension to cover his needs.

(The woman is confused to discover that.)

Then you will indeed have that man for whom you burned so many candles and for whom you many times begged to God, but unfortunately he will not be the man you imagined, he will be the real Gerard. That there is no lie, the man who will come to you at eighty is the same man you met at twenty. But it is not the man you imagined in your dreams and for which you prayed so much to obtain him.

And surely you are going to ask me:

« But here is something that I do not understand, since if we are the creators of our life through our desires and thoughts, and if I imagined a fantastic man, hardworking, handsome, young, very loving and faithful. So, why did not that perfect man that I imagined so much come to me? »

And I understand what you want to tell me, but you must know that there is a peculiarity in the law of creation:

Even if you dream about an ideal man, and even if all your desires were dreamed, these dreams were still hooked on that man you had as a lover, and that made your desires funnel towards that man you knew and not to the ideal man you so much wanted.

To give you an analogy, the management of the energy that you carried out through your prayers and your candles, it is similar to the formation of a pearl, where the nacre was hooked around a small grain of sand.

And in the same way, here, all your desires gravitated around a man who really existed, although you did not see the defects that this man had.

And therefore is the grain of sand that will come to you, and is not the idealized man that you dreamed, because it is around this unfaithful, lying, manipulative and lazy man on whom you made your desires gravitate.

And in the same way everything that humans think with ardor, everything that humans imagine with passion, everything that awakens within you a great intensity, all of this thinks will work in according to the norms of the law of creation. »

(Conference 6.06.93)

CONCLUSION

So if you want that your desire does not risk getting frustrated, what you need to do is NOT associate your desire with someone in particular, but simply imagine the qualities you want from your partner, or still better, do not specify anything but simply want to live a beautiful love story.

And from there, perform some esoteric technique like creative visualization, or positive decree, and even you can perform a ritual to ask the Divinity to help you to realize your dream. But do not make this mistake of specifying someone in particular.

And do not commit these two other mistakes either:

The second mistake is to hurt people to obtain your desire because that will produce you a negative karma that will come back to you in a harmful way, for example: finding your ideal partner, but he/she will be already married, or this partner dies, or this partner does not love you, or your desire is fulfilled at 80 years old, etc.

Then be very careful do not harm the others physically, emotionally or psychologically (at least not intentionally).

And the third mistake is that you don't have to devote too much of your energies, for example: beg day and night to God, or visualize all the time, or perform rituals at every moment.

Request and work for your wish, but especially help others because it will generate positive karma, which will help you to increase the chances that your desire will be realized.

And attention!

I am not saying that you cannot desire someone in particular, but in that case DO NOT use the energetic techniques that are magic, visualization, decree, etc. But use the traditional techniques such as flirt and seduction.

Because, as Master Pasteur explained: if you maneuver the energy to a particular person, and if you also attribute qualities to that person that she doesn't really have, and if you also do inconvenient things to get that person (such as doing rituals for that person leave his partner). So all this will only complicate the chances that your desire can be realized in a constructive way.

On the other hand, if you don't focus on anyone in particular and generate positive karma, that increases the chances that your desire will be realized in the way you want and even more that you have expected.

And a movie that would help me to illustrate what I just have told you, is the film:

"BEDAZZLED"

Where if you remember, it is only when the protagonist stopped wanting to get at all costs the woman he desire so much and he began to do good things, it is only at that moment when love came to him in a natural way .

And although here you are not making a pact with the devil, you are making a pact with the creative energies of the universe, and therefore you must know how to work with them if you want your effort become beneficial.
