CONTACT OF VSEVOLOD SOLOVYOV WITH MASTER KUTHUMI

Vsevolod Solovyov was a Russian writer and in a letter he wrote to Vera Zhelikhovsky (Blavatsky’s sister), he tells her the following event:

« Here is one more proof [of the existence of the Transhimalayan Masters]. I received at Wurtzbourg, at the same time to the great jealousy of all the Theosophists, an autograph letter written in Russian from Mahatma Kuthumi!

I was not the least astonished when I found this letter lying precisely in the book I held in my hand. I had a presentiment it would be so. I knew it beforehand!

What did astonish me, however, was that in it he spoke clearly and shortly of the very things we were discussing at the moment. In it I found a precise reply to my question of the moment before, although I was standing apart, and no one had approached me.

Even if anyone had been able to insert the letter in the book, the individual who did so must have been able to control my thoughts, and cause me to pronounce the words I had spoken, for me to have found in it an exact reply.

I have often observed the same phenomena in my own case and in that of others. »

And Mrs. Zhelikhovsky mentions that Solovyov suggested that perhaps Blavatsky had hypnotized him.

To which she responded:

« The occult powers of Madame Blavatsky were, without doubt, great. Nevertheless no one, so far as I know, has ever attributed her faculties to hypnotic suggestion, as M. Solovyov seems to imply.

Besides which, his hypothesis will not stand criticism, for many times the letters from the Mahatmas and from Madame Blavatsky have been submitted to the inspection of experts, who have always pronounced the handwritings to be different.

In addition to which, M. Solovyov has not been the only one to receive such letters under precisely similar conditions. Dr. Hubbe Schleiden, editor of The Sphinx, and many others who can prove it, have received their letters in the absence of Madame Blavatsky.

And since the death of my sister, identical letters have been received in London at the headquarters of the Theosophists. Mrs. Annie Besant, Countess Wachtmeister, Mr. Judge and others have spoken in all the theosophical journals, and one of these letters from Mahatma Morya (the master of Blavatsky) asks his followers to continue with their work, which produced a great sensation in the entire theosophical world. »

And in a discussion that Blavatsky had about this event, she said the following:

« Think only of a case with Solovyov, I was sick in my bed. A letter of his, an old letter received in London and torn up by me, rematerialized in my own sight, I looking at the thing; five or six lines in the Russian language, in Mahatma Kuthumi's handwriting in blue, the words taken from my head.

The letter old and crumbled travelling slowly alone (even I could not see the astral hand of the Kuthumi’s disciple performing the operation) across the bedroom, then slipping into and among Solovyov’s papers, who was writing in the little drawing-room, correcting my manuscripts; Olcott standing closely by him and having just handled the papers, looking over them with Solovyov.

Suddenly Solovyov find the latter, and like a flash I see in his head in Russian the thought:

- "The old imposter (meaning Olcott) must have put it there!"

And it is logical that a skeptical person would think that Blavatsky and Olcott wrote those letters, and then discreetly gave them to the people, making them believe that they belonged to the Masters.

But as Vera Zhelikhovsky pointed out:

So how to explain the Masters’ letters that were received in the absence of Madame Blavatsky and Colonel Olcott?

And being very distrustful, we could consider that they had their accomplices, but I have investigated and analyzed this issue in greater depth, and I have come to the conclusion that very likely the materialization of those letters, it was an authentic phenomenon, and in the blog, I will go detailing the reasons that led me to conclude that.

And one of those reasons is that not only we are talking about materialization letter, but there are also numerous testimonies from people who claim to have seen the Masters in person, and for example, Solovyov himself mentioned that the previous year Master Morya appeared him and had a long conversation with him.

The Masters Kuthumi and Morya had approached to Vsevolod Solovyov because they saw a great potential in him, but unfortunately Solovyov failed to appreciate this great opportunity that was given to him and ended up deflecting himself from the path as I detail it in this other article (link).

ENCOUNTER OF VSEVOLOD SOLOVYOV WITH MASTER MORYA

« Having received a letter from my countrywoman, Madame Helena Blavatsky, in which she informed me of her bad health and begged me to go to see her at Elberfeld (Germany), I decided to take the journey. But as the state of my own health obliged me to be careful, I preferred to stop at Brussels (Belgium), which town I had never seen, to rest, the heat being unbearable.

I left Paris on the 24th of August. Next morning, at the Grand Hotel in Brussels, where I was staying, I met Mlle. Justine de Glinka (daughter of a Russian ambassador and maid of honour to the Empress of Russia).

Hearing that I was going to Elberfeld to see Mme. Blavatsky, whom she knew and for whom she had much respect, she decided to come with me. We spent the day together expecting to leave in the morning by the nine o’clock train.

At eight o’clock, being quite ready to depart, I go to Miss de Glinka’s room and find her in a great state of perplexity. All her keys, which she always kept about her person in a little bag and that she had in this bag on going to bed, had disappeared during the night, although the door was locked.

Thus, as all her baggage was locked, she could not put away the things she had just been using and wearing. We were obliged to postpone our departure to the one o’clock train and called a locksmith to open the largest trunk.

When it was opened, all the keys were found in the bottom of the trunk, including the key of this trunk itself, attached as usual to the rest.

Having all the morning to spare, we agreed to take a walk, but suddenly I was overcome by weakness and felt an irresistible desire to sleep. I begged Miss de Glinka to excuse me and went to my room, and threw myself on the bed.

But I could not sleep and lay with my eyes shut, but awake, when suddenly I saw before my closed eyes a series of views of unknown places that my memory took in to the finest detail. And when this vision ceased, I felt no more weakness and went to Miss de Glinka, to whom I related all that had happened to me and described to her in detail the views I had seen.

We left by take the one o’clock train and after about half an hour’s journey, Miss de Glinka, who was looking out of the window, said to me:

- "Look, here is one of your landscapes!"

I recognized it at once, and all that day until evening, I saw, with open eyes, all that I had seen in the morning with closed eyes, and I was pleased that I had described to Miss de Glinka all my vision in detail.

The route between Brussels and Elberfeld is completely unknown to me, for it was the first time in my life that I had visited Belgium and this part of Germany.

On arriving at Elberfeld in the evening, we took rooms in a hotel and then hurried off to see Madame Blavatsky at Mr. Gebhard’s house.

The same evening, the members of the Theosophical Society who were there with Mme. Blavatsky showed us two superb oil paintings of the Mahatmas Morya and Kuthumi painted by Mr. Schmiechen.

The portrait of Morya especially produced on us an extraordinary impression, and it is not surprising that on the way back to the hotel, we talked on about him and had him before our eyes.

Miss de Glinka may be left to relate her own experience during that night, but this is what happened to me:

Tired by the journey, I lay peacefully sleeping when suddenly I was awakened by the sensation of a warm penetrating breath. I open my eyes and in this feeble light that entered the room through the three windows, I see before me a tall figure of a man, dressed in a long white floating garment.

At the same time I heard or felt a voice that told me, in I know not what language, although I understood perfectly, to light the candle. I should explain that, far from being afraid, I remained quite tranquil, only I felt my heart beat rapidly.

I lit the candle, and in lighting it, saw by my watch that it was two o’clock. The vision did not disappear. There was a living man in front of me. And I recognized instantly the beautiful original of the portrait we had seen during the evening before.

He sat down near me on a chair and began to speak. He talked for a long time. Among other things, he told me that in order to be fit to see him in his astral body I had had to undergo much preparation, and that the last lesson had been given me that morning when I saw, with closed eyes, the landscapes that I was to see in reality the same day.

Then he said that I possess great magnetic power, now being developed. I asked him what I ought to do with this force. But without answering, he vanished.

I was alone, the door of my room locked. I thought I had had a hallucination and even told myself with fright that I was beginning to lose my mind. Hardly had this idea arisen when once again I saw the superb man in white robes. He shook his head and, smiling, said to me:

- "Be sure that I am no hallucination and that your reason is not quitting you. Blavatsky will prove to you tomorrow before everyone that my visit is real."

Then he disappeared.

I saw by my watch that it was three o’clock. I put out the candle and immediately went into a deep sleep.

Next morning, on going with Miss de Glinka to meet Madame Blavatsky, and the first thing she said to us with an enigmatical smile was:

- "Well! How have you passed the night?"

- "Very well," I replied and I added, "Haven't you anything to tell me?"

- "No," she replied, "I only know that the Master was with you and with one of his pupils."

That same evening, Mr. Olcott found in his pocket a little note that all the Theosophists said was in the handwriting of Morya, and the note said:

"Certainly I was there, but who can open the eyes of him who will not see."

This was the reply to my doubts, because all the day I had been trying to persuade myself that it was only a hallucination. »

And later, the following year Solovyov went back to visit Blavatsky when she was in Würzburg (Germany) and on that occasion he received a Master Kuthumi’s letter which was materialized.

THE CIVILIZATION IS MUCH MORE OLD THAN WHAT PEOPLE BELIEVE

When Mr. Sinnet asked to Master Kuthumi:

Has there been in the past civilizations as great as our in regard to intellectual development that have utterly passed away?

This was what the master answered him:

« No doubt there was. Egyptian and Aryan records and especially our Zodiacal tables furnish us with every proof of it besides our inner knowledge.

Civilization is an inheritance, a patrimony that passes from race to race along the ascending and descending paths of cycles.

During the minority of a sub-race, it is preserved for it by its predecessor, which disappears, dies out generally, when the former “comes to age.” At first, most of them squander and mismanage their property, or leave it untouched in the ancestral coffers.

They reject contemptuously the advices of their elders and prefer, boy-like, playing in the streets to studying and making the most of the untouched wealth stored up for them in the records of the Past.

Thus during your transition period (the middle ages) Europe rejected the testimony of Antiquity, calling such sages as Herodotus and other learned Greeks — the Father of Lies, until she knew better and changed the appellation into that of “Father of History.”

Instead of neglecting, you now accumulate and add to your wealth. As every other race you had your ups and downs, your periods of honor and dishonor, your dark midnight and — you are now approaching your brilliant noon.

Do you know that the Chaldees were at the apex of their occult fame before what you term as the "bronze Age"?

And that the "Sons of Ad" or the children of the Fire Mist preceded by hundreds of centuries the Age of Iron, which was an old Age already, when what you now call the Historical Period.

We hold that far greater civilizations than our own have risen and decayed. And we affirm that a series of civilizations existed before, as well as after the Glacial Period, that they existed upon various points of the Globe, reached the apex of glory and died.

For example, every trace and memory had been lost of the Assyrian and Phoenician civilizations until discoveries began to be made a few years ago. And now they open a new, though not by far one of the earliest pages in the history of mankind.

And yet how far back do those civilizations go in comparison with the oldest?

And even them, history is shy to accept. Archeology has sufficiently demonstrated that the memory of man runs back vastly further than history has been willing to accept, and the sacred records of once mighty nations preserved by their heirs are still more worthy of trust.

(For example, in the Hindu sacred texts.)

We speak of civilizations of the ante-glacial period; and (not only in the minds of the vulgar and the profane but even in the opinion of the highly learned geologist) the claim sounds preposterous.

What would you say then to our affirmation that the “Chinese” (I now speak of the inland, the true Chinaman, not of the hybrid mixture between the fourth and the fifth Races now occupying the throne) the humans who belong in their unallied nationality wholly to the highest and last branch of the fourth Race, reached their highest civilization when the fifth had hardly appeared in Asia, and that its first offshoot was yet a thing of the future.

You cannot think that we, who have such tremendous odds against the acceptance of our doctrine would deliberately go on inventing Races and sub-races were not they a matter of undeniable fact.

And a prove you find it in the group of islands off the Siberian coast discovered by Nordenskjol of the “Vega” was found strewn with fossils of horses, sheep, oxen, etc., among gigantic bones of elephants, mammoths, rhinoceroses and other monsters belonging to periods when man (says your Science) had not yet made his appearance on earth.

How came horses and sheep to be found in company with the huge "ante-diluvians"?

The horse, we are taught in schools — is quite a modern invention of nature, and no man ever saw its pedactyl ancestor. But the group of the Siberian islands may give the lie to the comfortable theory.

The region now locked in the fetters of eternal winter uninhabited by man, will be very soon proved to have had not only a tropical climate (something your Science knows and does not dispute) but having been likewise the seat of one of the most ancient civilizations of that fourth race, whose highest relics now we find in the transformed Chinaman.

But if you could have access to the hidden historical records (the Akashic Records) you would discover that civilization is still older, and so for example, in the Eocene Age — even in its "very first part," the great cycle of the fourth Race men, the Atlanteans — had already reached its highest point. And of course the 4th race had its periods of the highest civilization.

But we can even go further in the past, and Greek and Roman and even Egyptian civilization are nothing compared to the civilizations that began with the 3rd Root-Race (Lemurian).

And we can say that there was when the human civilization really started, because the humans of the second Root-Race were not savages but they could not be called civilized. »

OBSERVATION

Currently, anthropologists believe that civilization began about 7’000 years ago, but new discoveries are changing their minds. And for example, in 1994 a complex of pillars and sculptures known as “Göbekli Tepe” was discovered in Turkey and it is considered that it was established between 9,000 and 8,000 BC. This shows that there were already quite advanced civilizations, at a time when before it was thought that only wild tribes existed.

And it is very likely that as new discoveries are made, the date of the beginning of civilization will go back more to the past. However, these findings will only belong to the current fifth Root-Race, but the Atlanteans and the Lemurians also had great civilizations.

Unfortunately, the vestiges of those previous Races-Roots are going to be more difficult to discover them, because the continents where they developed are currently submerged. (See the continents emerge and submerge several times)

And surely several of you will ask:

But if civilizations have emerged so advanced in the past, then why we are not more advanced today?

And the answer is because evolution does not take place in a straight line, but in a wavy line where periods of development are then followed by periods of decay, then grow back a little higher, and then fall again a little less, etc.

THE CONTINENTS EMERGE AND SUBMERGE SEVERAL TIMES

On this theme, Master Kuthumi said:

« There is no doubt that your geologists are very learned, since under the five continents they have explored and fathomed, they have found in their bowels the “Eocene Age”** and forced it to deliver them its secrets.

But then, why not consider the possibility that they may also be hidden deep beneath the still un-fathomed ocean beds, the existence of other, much older, continents whose stratums have never been geologically explored.

(And despite all our modern technology, we have only been able to explore geologically less than 3% of the ocean floor.)

And when the men will explore those stratums under the ocean floor, that day will completely disrupt his current theories of geology.

So why not consider (although it is true that no one of them has ever thought of it) that our current continents — like the continents of "Atlantis" and "Lemuria" — have already been several times already, submerged and had the time to reappear again, and bear their new groups of civilizations.

And that, at the first great geological upheaval, at the next cataclysm (in the series of periodical cataclysms that occur from the beginning to the end of every Round) our current known continents will go down and the "Lemurias" and the "Atlantises" will come up again.

Think of the future geologists of the sixth and seventh root-races [who will live in several million years in the future, on those continents they are currently submerged, and that by then, they will reappear again to the surface of the planet], and Imagine them digging deep in the bowels of what was Ceylon and Simla, and finding in their excavations implements of the Veddhas, or the remote ancestors of the Pahari.

And on the other hand, they will not find anything of the modern civilization, because every object belonging to it will have been pulverized to dust by the great masses of travelling glaciers, during the next glacial period.

Then imagine those future geologists finding only such rude implements as now found among those savage tribes; and forthwith declaring that during that period (the current one) the man was primitive, he climbed and slept on the trees, and sucked the marrow out of animal bones after breaking them (as civilized Europeans no less than the Veddahs will often do) hence jumping to the conclusion that in the XIX century mankind was composed of “men like animals.”

Well, this same error is the one that your current modern science is committing with its explorations. »

THE SINKING OF LEMURIA

« And by the way, whoever wrote the review of Ignatius Donnelly's Atlantis book* is right, because Lemuria cannot be confused with the Atlantic Continent than Europe with America.

Both sunk and were drowned with their high civilizations, nevertheless between the two catastrophes (the sinking of Lemuria and the sinking of Atlantis) a long period of about 700’000 years elapsed.

Lemuria flourishing and ending her career just at about that long lapse of time before the early part of the Eocene Age, since its Root-Race was the third. »

THE SINKING OF ATLANTIS

« And for the sinking of Atlantis (I refer to the group of continents and isles), this begun during the Miocene period**, in the same way as certain of your continents are now observed to be gradually sinking. And it culminated, first, in the final disappearance of the largest continent an event coincident with the elevation of the Alps; and second with that of the last of the fair islands mentioned by Plato.

The Egyptian priests of Sais told his ancestor Solon [who was one of the seven ancient sages of Greece (638-558 BC)] that Atlantis (i.e. the only remaining large island) had perished 9’000 years before their time [ie about 11’500 years before our present time].

And this was not a fancy date, since they had for millenniums preserved most carefully their records. But they only spoke about the island of Poseidonis, and they would not reveal to Solon, all the secret chronology that they possessed.

My brother Morya thinks that for your purposes I better give you a few more details upon Atlantis, but I am unable to give you purely “scientific” information since we can never agree entirely with Western conclusions; and that ours will be rejected as “unscientific.”

Yet both geology and paleontology bear witness to much we have to say. Of course your Science is right in many of her generalities, but her premises are wrong, or at any rate — very faulty.

For instance, she is right in saying that while the new America was forming the ancient Atlantis was sinking and gradually washing away; but she is neither right in her given epochs nor in the calculations of the duration of that sinking.

And this latter, will be also the future fate of the British Islands, which will be the first on the list of victims that will be destroyed by fire (submarine volcanoes) and by water. And then France and other lands will follow suit.

(But do not worry because we are talking about geological processes, which take a long time to complete.)

And when these European lands reappear again, the last seventh sub-race of the sixth Root-Race will be flourishing in the continents that were previously known as “Atlantis” and “Lemuria”, and that by then, they will have resurfaced (and in fact, their reappearance following immediately the disappearance of the present isles and continents).

And in that future age, there will be found very few seas and great portions of water on the planet, because waters as well as land appearing and disappearing and shifting periodically and each in turn. »

(There is an alternation between periods where there is more water on the Earth´s surface, and periods where there is more land on the surface of the planet.)

Notes

** I suppose that the dates have to correspond to the dates given in the theosophical though, and which differ from the dates given by the geology (see the comparison between the geological and esoteric time scale). [I will put after]

OBSERVATIONS

1) In the Secret Doctrine it is mentioned that:

« About 850’000 years have passed since the last great peninsula of the great Atlantis was submerged. »

(DS II, p.10)

Which implies that about 1.5 million years have passed since the sinking of Lemuria.

2) For a better understanding of what are the races-roots and sub-races, I recommend you read this article (see the human races: introduction)

3) To facilitate the understanding of what Master Kuthumi said, let us take a more western example and consider that within several thousand years, when an ice age returns, the glaciers will cover a big part of Europe and North America, crushing and pulverizing cities like New York, London or Paris.

And if we add that both continents will sink for several hundred thousand years, burying with it the traces of Western civilization under several meters of sediment layer.

Then it is very likely that the geologists of future civilizations will conclude that European or North American civilization is just a myth that the old men of the 21st century invented, since there are no traces of it. And they will think this erroneous theory until they explore closer the ocean floor...
