THE TOMB OF CARLOS CASTANEDA

In the Siberian city of Omsk, Russia, in August 2016, local cemetery worker Nikita Pozdnyakov claimed that he found the grave of Carlos Castaneda.

The gravestone on this tomb lacks the usual information (name of the person buried there, plus their date of birth and death), it only has the portrait of the writer.

Nikita commented:

"Among my responsibilities I have to walk around the cemetery to make sure everything is alright. One day I was passing by this grave and the face in the portrait seemed to me that I had seen somewhere before, and searching on the internet I confirmed that it was Carlos Castaneda."

When asked about the record of this grave, he replied:

"In 2003 there was a fire in the cemetery administration building,  which caused the loss of all documents, including the cemetery's registry book."

OBSERVATIONS

Nikita is convinced that Carlos Castaneda is indeed buried there, but there is official documentation showing that Castaneda lived in Los Angeles, California, died in that city on April 27, 1998, and was cremated this same day by the Spalding Funeral Home, Culver City.

So it is a fact that Castaneda's body is not under this grave, and most likely someone put his photo there to attract attention, or perhaps because he was a great admirer of Castaneda, since Russia was one of the countries with the most fervent followers, to the point that tensegrity workshops were held in this country practically every year from 1999 to 2015.

Therefore, a devotee of Castaneda may have preferred not to include any information about himself, since Don Juan advocates erasing our past, and instead chose to include Castaneda's photo as a tribute to his "Nagual".
