CARLOS CASTANEDA'S TEXTS THAT HE DID NOT PUBLISH

Here I will mention the texts that Carlos Castaneda wrote but that were not published.

A WHOLE BOOK

 At the end of her 1982 interview with Castaneda, teacher Graciela Corvalán commented:

« [Of all the topics Castaneda addressed] the story of Joe Córdoba [Castaneda working as a cook] and his wife [the Fat Lady] had impressed us greatly. It was a very different experience from those in his books."

We were interested to know if he had written or was writing anything about Joe Córdoba, so I asked him:

"Why don't you write about that? Of everything you've told us, Joe Córdoba and his wife is what has impacted me the most."

"I just delivered a new manuscript to my agent –Castaneda replied– and in this manuscript, the Toltec Lady [the new Castaneda's teacher] is the one who teaches. It couldn't be otherwise... Its title may well be 'Stalking and the Art of Being in the World .'

All her teachings are contained there. She is responsible for this manuscript. A woman had to be the one to teach the art of stalking. Women know it well because they have always lived with the enemy; that is to say, they have always walked on tiptoe in a man's world. Precisely for this reason, because women have extensive experience in this art, the Toltec lady is the one who must impart the principles of stalking.

In this last manuscript, however, there is nothing concrete about the life of Joe Córdoba and his wife. I cannot write in detail about that experience because no one would understand or believe it. I can talk about it with very few people... But the essence of that experience of the last three years is in this book." »

But in Castaneda's subsequent books, none appeared with this title or this theme, and it is most likely that this manuscript did not exist and Castaneda only invented it to respond to Miss Corvalán.

ANOTHER WHOLE BOOK

In his 1994 interview with Carlos Castaneda, writer Keith Thompson mentioned:

« Bibliophiles will be interested to know that Castaneda claims to have written a book about Don Juan before his book "The Teachings of Don Juan," titled "The Crack Between Worlds," but he lost the manuscript in a movie theater. »

Castaneda probably told Thompson this, but it sounds false because Castaneda initially did not intend to write his first book, "The Teachings of Don Juan."

It was his anthropology teacher who asked his students to interview an Indian as a field assignment, and when Castaneda handed in this assignment, the professor was so impressed that he proposed that the work be published as a book.

So it makes no sense that Castaneda would have written a book about Don Juan before his first book, and knowing the big liar Castaneda was, it's most likely that he told Thompson this lie just to captivate him.

A CHAPTER FROM HIS BOOK "THE ACTIVE SIDE OF INFINITY"

From May 19 to 21, 1995, a tensegrity workshop was held in Mexico City, at the Sheraton Maria Isabel Hotel.

Carol spoke on Friday night and among other things she revealed that Castaneda was writing a new book and stated that "Carlos is titling a chapter of the book he is writing: 'The Return of Carol Tiggs'"

From November 29 to December 1, 1996, a tensegrity workshop was held in the city of Los Angeles, at the Pasadena Center Exhibition Hall.

On this occasion, Nury Alexander (Castaneda's adopted daughter) read the chapter of this book that was in progress and which at that time was titled "Memorable Events"

An intensive review workshop was held on February 15 and 16, 1997, in the "blue pyramid" on the campus of California State University, Long Beach.

Castaneda, Taisha, and Carol participated in a brief discussion, and Nury reread this chapter of the book in progress, where she also describes three beings that Castaneda finds in the desert after planting the seeds: a man who wants to be an agent, a screenwriter, and a lesbian woman (that is, Tracy Kramer, Bruce Wagner, and Zaia Alexander, who had been among the last recruits to join Castaneda's personal group).

Finally, this book was published in December 1998 (seven months after Castaneda had died) by Harper Collins under the title "The Active Side of Infinity," but this chapter was omitted.

Because?

We don't know, perhaps because Castaneda was angry with Carol's decision not to commit suicide with the other women after his death (which occurred on April 27, 1998).

Or was he bothered by the series of love affairs Carol had with men in the group while he was dying.

Or Carol influenced the elimination of this chapter, knowing that a quick search of public records would reveal that she had not been physically absent for ten years (when Castaneda had been claiming this assertion and detailing it in this chapter).
