Carlos
Castaneda was a dark-skinned man of Andean descent, but he showed
repulsion towards his ethnicity as I will now demonstrate.
Castaneda claimed to be European
On
several occasions he claimed to be European, such as in the interview
that the philosopher Sam Keen conducted with him in 1972, or also in the
interview that the novelist Theodore Rosak conducted with him in 1969,
which you can listen to in this video and you will see that Castaneda repeatedly affirms that he is European:
Castaneda claimed to have Italian ancestry
In the interview that the Argentine academic Graciela Corvalán conducted with Castaneda in 1982, she wrote:
"Carlos Castaneda told us several anecdotes about his Italian grandfather, who was always so prone to falling in love."
But as far as I've discovered, Castaneda didn't have any Italian grandparents.
His wife was white
In 1960 Castaneda married an American woman named Margaret Runyan, who has white skin and light brown hair.
His son was blond
Margaret
wanted a child, but Castaneda could no longer father children because
he had had a vasectomy. So, to please Margaret, Castaneda looked for a
man to impregnate her, but he didn't look for a mixed-race man or a
Latin American; instead, he asked a tall, blond Slavic man. And
Castaneda adopted this child.
Castaneda adored this child, and in the following photos you can see Castaneda with his blond, light-eyed son:
As an adult, Castaneda's son told journalist Geoffrey Gray: "My dad told me that he wanted to have a tall, blond, blue-eyed warrior heir."
His next partner was also a white woman
Castaneda
and Margaret separated, and shortly afterwards Castaneda began a
relationship with another American woman named Mary Joan Barker who was
also white.

Castaneda's disciple-lovers were white womans
Once
he was famous, Castaneda gathered a group of women around him who were
officially his personal disciples, but who were secretly also his
lovers, and something that stands out is that all of them are
white-skinned, none of them are dark-skinned .

Castaneda rejected a dark-skinned woman
I
knew of a woman who was willing to do anything to become one of his
close students, truly anything; however, since she wasn't very
attractive and was dark-haired, that makes me suspect that was the real
reason why Castaneda refused to accept her.
"Caucasian"
His death certificate states that Castaneda claimed to be of Caucasian race.
CONCLUSION
All
this leads me to conclude that Carlos Castaneda had a strong complex
about being very short (he was 1.58 cm tall), dark-skinned, and Andean;
and that is why he spent his whole life admiring people with white skin
and of European origin.
