CHARLES LEADBEATER AND THE CATS

Charles Leadbeater liked cats, as shown in the picture above which was taken in Sydney in 1917, and where Leadbeater is seen with his cat, along with  James Wedgwood  and Julian Mazel.

The three of them were then important members of  the Liberal Catholic Church, which Leadbeater helped to develop so that he could carry out his perversions and fantasies of pretending to be bishops.

Another photo where Leadbeater appears with his cat (I don't know if it's the same cat) is this one that was taken at the headquarters of the Theosophical Society in Adyar in 1911.

There are Dick Balfour Clarke, Irving Cooper, and Fabrizio Ruspoli, who assisted Leadbeater in his clairvoyant investigations into the past lives of many people (but in the end, his discoveries were falsehoods). And his cat is lying on a stool to Leadbeater's left.

Researcher Gregory Tillett recounted another incident involving Leadbeater and his cat, when Leadbeater was living in London:

« In the summer of 1896, Mrs. Besant, Leadbeater, and Jinarajadasa spent a holiday at Mr. and Mrs. Bright's summer home in Shepperton on the Thames.

And after the success of their investigation into the lives of Erato, they continued to investigate the past lives of his secretary and traveling companion, Miss Annie J. Willson.

In that year they began to broaden the scope of their investigations and during a weekend, Leadbeater, Mrs. Besant, Bertram Keightley, Jinarajadasa, and Jinarajadasa's cat "Jil" [who was also Leadbeater's cat], left London for a period of escape in Box Hill, Surrey.

They were in a secluded weekend house, without the interference of the “malevolent thought forms” of the metropolis, and there they began to investigate the hidden history of the earth, its past races and civilizations, with Jinarajadasa taking copious notes.

Among the details he noted were accounts of civilizations on the moon, Atlantis, and Lemuria; and he also observed that Leadbeater did most of the “visioning” while Mrs. Besant merely added some additional detail.

In August 1896, Mrs. Besant, Leadbeater, Jinarajadasa, the cat, and Bertram Keightley spent four days at Lewis Park Farm, near Nutley in Sussex.

And there they continued their clairvoyant investigations, but this time about the planets, and Leadbeater perceived that most of the human race came from Mars and that in the future they will move to Mercury.

And later they examined atoms and molecules in an investigation they called “Occult Chemistry. »
(The Elder Brother, pp. 65-66)

And Leadbeater's affection for cats existed from his youth, as the Englishman James Matley, who met Leadbeater when he was a young priest in the Bramshott parish, commented:

« [Leadbeater had a cat named] Peter, a noble brown cat with darker stripes, large in size, and CW Leadbeater’s favorite, who always kept him in his room night and day; he left him with us when Leadbeater departed for Asia. »
(Letters from KH to Leadbeater, Appendix 1)

This is a cute aspect of Leadbeater (that he liked cats) but unfortunately, everything Leadbeater meddled in, he distorted with his lies, and cats were no exception; and proof of this is the answer he gave to a woman who wrote to him asking about the condition of her cat after its death. To which Leadbeater replied:

« Dear Madam:

You need have no anxiety about the departed Tom.  Your affection has brought him to the stage of individualization, and he will therefore not be reborn in feline form.  You will therefore certainly encounter him in the course of evolution, but you must remember that it will only be at a much later stage and therefore in another world than this.

Yours faithfully,
C.W. Leadbeater. »

(Letter to Miss P. Kayser, dated December 2, 1933, is in the Archives of the Theosophical Society, Adyar.)

OBSERVATIONS

But what Leadbeater claims is a lie, firstly because his assertion that animals have group souls is wrong (that is, while each human has their own soul, Leadbeater stated that a group of animals share the same soul).

But even though each animal has its own "soul" (I put it in quotes because an animal's soul is much less developed than a human's soul), animals are still far from reaching the level of humans; what Leadbeater calls: "the stage of individualization".

Leadbeater asserted that domestic animals, through the affection they received from their owners and their desire to imitate them, were already becoming humanized from the fourth round onward. But Master Kuthumi indicated that the humanization of animals would only occur in the seventh round.

« During the seventh round, humans will have become divine beings, and animals will have become intelligent beings. »
(ML 23b, p.177)

That is to say, the most evolved beings of each kingdom, at the end of the planetary evolutionary cycle (which is made up of seven rounds) will have reached the level of the next higher kingdom: the most advanced humans will have reached the level of the angels, and the most advanced animals will have reached the level of the humans.

But even so, these beings will only effect development in this higher realm during the next planet that will be created.

To give you an analogy, at the end of elementary school, the best students will have reached the level of secondary school (in its first stage), but they will only attend secondary school in the following school year.

All of this implies that what Leadbeater taught is false, and that in reality the beloved cat Tom will not be reborn as a human in his next reincarnation (as Leadbeater claimed) but will continue to reincarnate as an animal for a very long time yet.

And this is yet another example of the degree to which Leadbeater  distorted the original Theosophical teaching.
