INTERVIEW WITH CARLOS CASTANEDA ABOUT TENSEGRITY BY YOGA JOURNAL

In December 1995, the Californian magazine 'Yoga Journal' published an article dedicated to Tensegrity taught by Carlos Castaneda and his team.

He and several of his disciples were interviewed in Maui, Hawaii, where they were conducting a tensegrity workshop, and he accepted the interview to promote the 'magical passes' they had begun to teach in seminars .

On the magazine cover, at the top, it says:

"Carlos Castaneda's New Dream Movements."

TEXT

This article is very long; if I ever get around to it, I'll transcribe it. For now, I'm only transcribe the first page:

CARLOS CASTANEDA'S TENSEGRITY

The energy gathering movements taught by the Yaqui sorcerer Don Juan Matus are now being presented publicly by Carlos Castaneda and company.

Our intrepid reporter was on the scene and brings back the story on honing the energy body the warrior's way.

By Holly Hammond. »

Cid's note: Castaneda said that Don Juan taught him the magical passes, but several researchers believe that Tensegrity was taught to him by a mysterious ancient sorcerer belonging to the ancestors of Don Juan's lineage, known as "the death defier." And I suspect that's probably this aseveration is true.

OBSERVATIONS

Hammond reported that “Although the four [Florinda, Taisha, Carol and Castaneda] began working together almost 30 years ago, they had a long-time agreement not to speak with one another about their own training or sorcery experiences, in order to maintain the integrity and energy necessary for the work.”

Hammond described the change in this arrangement as follows: “As Castaneda tells it, he was giving one of his rare talks at a bookstore in Los Angeles when he spied a woman in the audience whom he recognized as Carol Tiggs. He had not seen her in 10 years, because she had been off in the ‘sea of awareness,’ a realm in which awareness is used as a medium of travel. Her return signaled a new, more public phase in the work of the four sorcerers.

By her return, Carol Tiggs was making a decision to lift the traditional veil of mystery and secrecy and present the teaching of the sorcerers to a larger world. In this spirit, Florinda Donner-Grau and Taisha Abelar wrote books describing their training.”

In May or June of 1995, Holly reported that she called Kylie “and we chat about the successful workshops they’ve done in Colorado and New York. But the teaching tour of Europe had to be cancelled, she says, because Carol Tiggs has once again disappeared: ‘Something has happened energetically, in dreaming, and we haven’t been able to pull her back, so there’s no way we could focus on more wokshops.' ”

The article also stated that “Carol is an M.D.”
