In a 1982 interview, Carlos Castaneda recounted an encounter he had with a guru, and the interviewer Graciela Corvalan wrote the following about this event:
« Carlos Castaneda said: "I've had quite close relationships with people who work in Hatha Yoga.
For example, in 1976, a doctor friend of mine named Claudio Naranjo
connected me with a yoga master, so we went to visit this guru at his Ashram
here in California."
We
communicated through a professor who acted as translator. I was hoping
to find parallels in this interview with my own out-of-body experiences.
However, nothing important was discussed. There was, yes, a lot of
showmanship and ceremony, but nothing of substance was said.
Towards
the end of the interview, this character took a kind of metal sprayer
in his hands and began to spray me with a liquid whose smell I didn't
like at all.
When he withdrew, I asked his disciples what he had just thrown at me.
Someone approached and explained to me that I should be very happy because the master had given me his blessing.
I insisted on knowing the contents of the vessel.
Finally, I was told that all of the master's secretions were kept: "Everything that comes out of him is sacred," I was told.
You can imagine that's where the conversation with this guru ended. »

OBSERVATIONS
I don't know if this story is true or if it was invented by Carlos Castaneda.
The Hare Krishna have
a rather disgusting ceremony that consists of washing the feet of their
guru with water, milk and yogurt (and in some cases they add honey for
flavor), and then the resulting liquefied mixture is distributed among
the different followers who attend this ritual and they drink it
believing that the grime and dead skin of their guru will purify them
and help them in their spiritual development.
But I haven't heard of any gurus blessing people by showering them with "everything that comes out of him," but knowing how delusional those individuals can become, it's possible...
