Theosophical
instructors explained that under the Law of Correspondence, which
states that "as in the small, so in the large," just as humans
reincarnate, so too do planets reincarnate. However, it should be noted
that while the process of planetary reincarnation is similar to the
process of human reincarnation in certain aspects, it differs in others.
(The
word reincarnate is not appropriate for planets because planets are not
reborn in a flesh body, but I use it because people understand it
better than the term: 'planetary embodiment'.)
And these instructors revealed that the Moon reincarnated as the Earth. And I will now detail how this process took place, but to understand what
follows, you first need to know that just as humans are composed of
seven principles (a physical body and six subtle ones), the planets are
also composed of seven principles (a physical globe and six subtle
ones), and these seven globes are called a 'planetary chain'.
And
the beings that will develop in this planetary chain, during the life
cycle of this planetary chain, will travel the seven globes seven times,
and those seven journeys are called: 'the seven rounds'.
THE DEATH OF THE LUNAR CHAIN
Master Kuthumi explained:
« When
the end comes, though the process of man's advance in his last and
seventh round is precisely the same [as in the previous rounds], but each
globe instead of merely becoming temporarily inactive as humans
abandon it, these globe die.
With the beginning of the seventh round, every kingdom (animal, vegetable, etc.) having now reached its last cycle, there remains on each planet after the exit of man but the maya [illusions] of once living and existing forms.
With
each step it takes on the descending and ascending arcs as it moves
from globe to globe, the globe it leaves behind becomes an empty
chrysalis shell.
At his departure there is an outflow from every kingdom of its entities. Waiting to pass into higher forms in due time they are nevertheless liberated: for to the day of that evolution they will rest in their lethargic sleep in space until again energized into life in the new planet.
. . .
When
the end comes, the whole purified humanity merges into Nirvana and from that inter-solar Nirvana will be reborn in higher systems [that is,
in a new and more evolved planetary chain, which in our case is the
terrestrial chain. »
(ML 15, p.97-98)
TRANSFER OF THE PRINCIPLES, ESSENCE AND INFORMATION OF THE LUNAR CHAIN TO THE FUTURE TERRESTRIAL CHAIN
Blavatsky explained:
« Without attempting the very difficult task of giving out the whole process in all its cosmic details, enough may be said to give an approximate idea of it.
When a planetary chain is in its last Round, its Globe 1 or A, before finally dying out, sends all its energy and “principles” into a neutral centre of latent force, a “laya centre,” and thereby informs a new nucleus of undifferentiated substance or matter, i.e., calls it into activity or gives it life.
. . .
Now it will be easy to imagine further Globe A of the lunar chain informing Globe A of the terrestrial chain, and — dying.
Globe B of the former sending after that its energy into Globe B of the new chain.
Then Globe C of the lunar, creating its progeny sphere C of the terrene chain.
Then the Moon (our Satellite) pouring forth into the lowest globe of our planetary ring — Globe D, our Earth — all its life, energy and powers; and, having transferred them to a new centre becoming virtually a dead planet, in which rotation has almost ceased since the birth of our globe. »
(SD I, p.155-6)
Blavatsky also pointed out that this transfer is a very long process:
« I hope they don't think that the particles thrown off by the Moon
created the Earth in a single day, as it certainly required millions and
millions of years to do something like that. »
(SDC, p.481)
THE BIRTH OF THE EARTH CHAIN
Master Kuthumi explained:
« The impulse of life reaches globe A, or rather that which is destined
to become terrestrial globe A and which until now is nothing more than
cosmic dust [on the physical plane, and in the future this cosmic dust will
become terrestrial globe D, that is, the Earth].
A centre is formed in the nebulous matter of the condensation of the solar dust disseminated through space and a series of three evolutions invisible to the eye of flesh occur in succession, viz., three kingdoms of elementals or nature forces are evoluted: in other words the animal soul of the future globe is formed; or as a Kabalist will express it, the gnomes, the salamanders, and the undines are created. The correspondence between a mother-globe and her child-man may be thus worked out.
. . .
The three evolutions completed: palpable globe begins to form. The mineral kingdom fourth in the whole series, but first in this stage leads the way. Its deposits are at first vaporous soft and plastic, only becoming hard and concrete in the seventh ring [i.e., in its
seventh and final stage of development of the mineral kingdom on globe
A].
When
this ring is completed, [the mineral kingdom] projects its essence to
globe B, which is already going through the preliminary stages of
formation [created by the elemental kingdoms], and mineral evolution
begins on this globe.
At
this juncture, the evolution of the plant kingdom begins in globe A,
and when the plant kingdom has completed its seventh ring, its essence
passes to globe B.
At this moment the essence of the mineral kingdom moves to globe C and the germs of the animal kingdom enter globe A.
When
the animal kingdom has completed its seven rings in globe A, its life
principle goes to globe B, and the essence of the plant kingdom goes to
globe C and the essence of the mineral kingdom moves to globe D.
Then comes man on A, an ethereal foreshadowing of the compact being he is destined to become on our earth. Evolving seven parent races with many offshoots of sub-races, he, like the preceding kingdoms completes his seven rings and is then transferred successively to each of the globes onward to G. »
(ML 15, p.94-5)
WHAT MATTER WAS THE EARTH FORMED FROM?
Mr. Keightley asked Blavatsky this question:
« You explained that at the end of the seventh round of a planetary
chain, the globes in this planetary chain begin to 'die,' and as this
happens, their principles and energy are transferred from each globe to a
laya center, and then around this laya center these principles and
energy proceed to develop a new planetary chain. And that is how the
Earth was formed from the Moon.
My question is the following:
Does
the transfer of the Moon's principles to the laya center that later
becomes the Earth involve a fall of the Moon's gross material back onto
the Earth? And
if so, could we say that the life currents that pass from the
progenitor's laya center contain the potentiality that later manifests
in the development of the creature? »
To which Blavatsky replied:
« The materials of the Earth were already there but in an
undifferentiated state because substance is eternal. There has never
been a time when that substance did not exist, since the materials from
which the Earth is now created constitute the entire 'creature,' and
therefore there was never a time when they did not exist.
They
were only awakened by the principles of the Moon when, one after the
other, these principles were transferred from the dying lunar chain to
the nascent terrestrial chain, and the Earth began its formation when
its turn came in the awakening of the chain.
The phrase is better expressed in The Secret Doctrine where it says that “the principles of the Moon are exhaled “above” rather than “inside” the laya center, because a laya center is
just as I have told you, undifferentiated, although everything around it
may be differentiated, and the laya center in this case is the Atman of
the body that is formed.
The
moon shrank after the loss of its principles, just as happens in the
body of a dead man after his vital and other principles have left him.
And since this is so, occultists say that the life force of the
progenitor carries with it the potential for all that will develop on
the new planet. »
(SDC, p.432-4)
THE CURRENT STATE OF THE MOON
Blavatsky pointed out:
« On the Moon there is no longer any principles, only a kind of shadow life remains. That is the kind of life that unfolds there.
Think
of a body that is in a trance-like state even though everything else is
already dead, but there is still something in that body that retains a
little vitality.
And
if you burn incense around it for many hours, afterward this body will
smell of it, which shows that it absorbed it. Whereas a body that is completely dead will not absorb anything. »
(SDC, p.434)
MY EXPLANATIONS
To have a better understanding of how the Moon reincarnated as the Earth, one must observe how humans reincarnate.
In
summary, theosophical instructors explained that when a human dies,
his different bodies pass away, but the characteristics that the
person developed in those different bodies remain recorded in energetic
structures called skandhas.
Humans
spend a period of time in Devachan ("Heaven") and when they
reincarnate, their skandhas are reactivated and will transmit the
recorded information to the new bodies that are being formed.
And
in the same way, when a planetary chain reaches its seventh round, as
the beings that inhabit it leave each of the globes in this chain, those
globes die.
These
beings then enter a higher subtle plane of existence that Master
Kuthumi called "an intersolar nirvana" and that Blavatsky called "a laya
point," and which corresponds to the Devachan into which human souls
enter after passing away, but which "in the planetary Devachan" is at a
higher level of existence and vibration and lasts much longer.
And subsequently the skandhas of the lunar chain will be reactivated to form the globes of the new terrestrial chain.
Then
the elemental kingdoms will be the first to descend from the intersolar
Nirvana to create the preliminary structure of the terrestrial globe A.
And
when those elemental kingdoms finish their cycle of development and
construction on globe A, then they descend to a less subtle plane of
existence to perform the same work on globe B; and the mineral kingdom
enters globe A to perform its part.
And
when those elemental kingdoms finish their cycle of development and
construction on globe B, then they descend to a less subtle plane of
existence to perform the same work with globe C; and the mineral kingdom
enters globe B to perform its work and development on globe B; and the
plant kingdom enters globe A to perform its work and development on
globe A.
And so, gradually and successively, the new globes of the terrestrial chain are formed. It is similar to a cascading fountain:
Currently the Moon is a sidereal corpse that is not yet completely dead, but is already very much deceased.
And
somewhere I read that when the Moon is completely dead, then the Moon
will disintegrate and a large part of its matter will fall on the Earth,
but we should not worry about that future event because when that
happens, humanity and the other kingdoms will have already transcended
physical matter and will live on the subtle planes (first on the astral
plane and later on the mental plane).
