THE PORTRAITS OF ÉLIPHAS LÉVI

The image we know of Éliphas Lévi where he appears the youngest is a portrait drawn by one of his friends in 1836, when at that time he was a young revolutionary 26 years old.

The following picture is a portrait that he himself painted probably in 1845. The original in color I placed it at the beginning of the article, and this seems to be a black and white copy that he sent to his beloved.

The next picture was painted by one of his friends in 1848, when he was 38 years old. He appears as a monk since he was abbot for a time.

The following picture is a painting that was made in 1850 and belonged to Mrs. Gebhard. That corresponds to the time when he became interested in esotericism.

The following photo was taken in 1861 by Dr. Rozier.

The following image was made in 1862, while Éliphas Lévi was 52 years old and he was already a renowned esotericist.

And the following picture was taken two years later:

The following photo was taken in 1872 and it was preserved (as well as several of the previous pictures) by Mr. Henri Chenevier who is a descendant of Éliphas Lévi.

And this last image is the portrait painted by Ch. Revel in 1874, a year before the death of Éliphas Lévi.
