AT THE END OF EACH CENTURY THE MASTERS PROMOTE THE SPIRITUAL PROGRESS OF HUMANITY

At the end of each century the Masters of Wisdom make a greater effort to try to promote the spiritual progress of humanity. And on this matter Blavatsky explained the following:

« But I have to tell you that during the last quarter of each century , the Masters of whom I have already told you, make an attempt to help the spiritual progress of Humanity in a remarkable and definite way.
And so it is that at the close of each century you will invariably find that an outpouring or elevation of spirituality will have taken place , or call it mysticism if you prefer. Someone or some persons will have appeared in the world as its agents , and a greater or lesser amount of occult knowledge and teaching will have been given. And if I had

Careful to observe closely, you might ascertain the existence of such movements, century after century, as far back as detailed historical records allow.
. . .
And if the effort that has been made on this occasion in the form of the Theosophical Society is more successful than its predecessors, then this structure will exist as an organized, living, and healthy body when the time comes for the effort of the twentieth century . »
(The Key to Theosophy, p.306-7)

« In every century an attempt is made to show the world that Occultism is not a mere superstition. And once the door has been allowed to be a little ajar, it will open more and more widely with each new century. The times are ripe for more advanced knowledge than has hitherto been permitted, albeit still very limited.
– – –
In the Twentieth Century, some more informed and much more prepared disciple could be sent by the Masters of the Wisdom to give final and irrefutable proofs that there is a Science called Gupta Vidya [ which in Sanskrit means “Secret Knowledge” and It is the root of the religions and philosophies that have existed . »
(The Secret Doctrine, introduction xxxvii)

ORIGIN OF THIS EFFORT

It dates back to the time of Master Je Tsong-Kha-pa in the 14th century.

« It is said that the birth of Tsong-Kha-pa occurred in the year 1358 AD in the province of Amdo in northeastern Tibet near the lake of Kokonor. It was he who instituted major reforms in Tibetan Buddhism, coinciding with the establishment of the Gelukpa Order in 1417 .

He was not only a great preceptor but also the chief hierarch of the Drepung Monastery near Lhasa. During his administration Tsong-Kha-pa also established the monasteries of Sera and Ganden. These two monasteries together with the Drepung monasteries ruled Tibet not only in religious aspects but also in the politics of the country since that time . »
(Geoffrey Barborka, "HP Blavatsky, Tibet and Tulku", p.80)

« Tsong-Kha-pa was an incarnation of Amita Buddha himself. The records preserved in the Bompa, the main Lamasery of Tashi-lumpo, show that the Sangyas (Buddha) left the regions of the "Western Paradise" to incarnate himself in Tsong-Kha-pa, in consequence of the great degradation in which they had fallen. fallen the secret doctrines from him. ... Until the Tsong-Kha-pa period there had been no incarnations of Sangyas (Buddha) in Tibet again. Tsong-Kha-pa gave the signs by which the presence of one of the twenty-five Bodhisattvas or Celestial Buddhas (Dhyân Chohans) in a human body can be recognized.
. . .
Among Tsong-Kha-pa's commandments there is one that commands the Rahats (Arhats) to make an attempt to enlighten the world, including the "white barbarians" [the term makes me laugh and although some may be offended they have to admit that in that time was true]. Every century in a certain specific period of the cycle. To this day, none of those attempts have been very successful. And a failure has followed another failure.

Would we have to explain the fact in light of a certain prophecy?

It is said that until the time when the Panchhen-Rinpoche (meaning " great Jewel of Wisdom ", a title given to the Lama of Tashi-Lumpo) considers being reborn in the country of the (Western) Pelings, and appearing as the spiritual conqueror (Chom-denda) destroy the errors and ignorance of the ages, it will be of little profit to try to uproot the misunderstandings of Pelingpa (Europe): your children will listen to no one . »
(Blavatsky, Collected Writings, Vol. XIV, p.427-431)

Obviously it is not because Tsong-Kha-pa (the reincarnation of Buddha) said so that all the other teachers decided to obey.  (Hey Buddha, what a good idea you had! Why hadn't I thought of that before? ) Surely he made some energy management that his high development allowed him, so that within the Kali-Yuga, this effort could be made without affecting the balance of the Law of Cycles.

THE EFFORT MADE IN THE X VIII CENTURY

Blavatsky pointed out that Mesmer was the messenger of the masters in the eighteenth century:

« The famous doctor who rediscovered and practically used magnetic fluid for healing and which he called animal magnetism and started mesmerism, was an initiated member of the Brotherhood of the Fratres Lucis (The Brothers of Light) and of Lukshoor (or Luxor), or the Egyptian Branch of the latter.

It was the Council of “Luxor” that selected him, in accordance with the orders of the “Great Brotherhood”, to act in the 18th century as their regular pioneer that they send in the last quarter of each century to enlighten the nations a little more. Western nations on occult science.

And it was Saint-Germain who oversaw the development of events in that case; and later Cagliostro was commissioned to help, but after having committed a series of errors, more or less fatal, he was removed from the matter »
(Theosophical Glossary, p.213)

THE EFFORT MADE IN THE XIX CENTURY

The trans-Himalayan Masters sent Blavatsky as their agent to try to form a nucleus of people who would express the Universal Brotherhood and disseminate some of the occult knowledge. And it is curious to note that the Mother Theosophical Society was founded on September 8, 1875 in New York . And on this matter the Mahatmas said:

« This state of hers [the inconsistencies and strange ways that Blavatsky displayed] is intimately connected with her occult training in Tibet, and is due to the fact that she was sent into the world alone, to gradually prepare the way for others. After almost a century of unsuccessful search, our bosses had to take advantage of the only opportunity they had to send a European body on European soil, to serve as a connecting link between that country and ours. » (Kuthumi, Mahatma Letter 26, p.203)

« One or two of us hoped that the world had advanced to such a point intellectually, if not intuitively, that Occult doctrine could gain intellectual acceptance and the impetus could be given for a new cycle of occult research. Others – wiser as can now be seen – thought differently, but consent was given to the test. It was stipulated, however, that the experiment would be done independently of our personal direction, that there would be no abnormal intervention on our part.

Looking far and wide we found in America the man who could be the leader [Henry Steel Olcott, the future president of the Theosophical Society], a man of great moral worth, generous, and possessed of other good qualities. He was far from the best, but. . .he was the best available. With him we associate a woman [Blavatsky] of exceptional and marvelous gifts. Combined with strong personal flaws; but, as she was, there was no one alive who could approach her in aptitude for this work. We sent it to America, we had them meet and the test began.
. . .
Its success has not matched the hopes of its original promoters, phenomenal as it has been in certain directions . »
(Morya, Mahatma Letter 44, p.263)

And it is even more curious to note that the last known legitimate letter of the Mahatmas is the one written by Master Kuthumi to Annie Besant in August 1900.

THE EFFORT MADE IN THE TWENTIETH CENTURY

In this regard, the Theosophist Richard Robb commented the following:

« Many students hopefully longed for a new Theosophical luminary to appear on the scene. There were those who took the early forecasts of a messenger literally hoping that from January 1975 it would show up. And many clinging to the literal point of view, built their concept of a leader similar to Blavatsky or William Judge, and imagined the leader of their own group as one with such high status.

However, in retrospect it was difficult to single out a single individual and many wonder what happened?

Did not William Judge say:

-        “At that time another messenger will arrive and in my opinion it will be the same being that now directs our efforts. . .If this is achieved, then in 1975 there will be an instrument ready [i.e. the Theosophical movement] for the returning messenger to use for the last twenty-five years, instead of having to rebuild it all over again.” (Echoes from the East III, p.296)

In fact, as is almost always the case with recurring cycles, they are extended or shortened by other factors and are labeled by their average period. In truth, Willaim Judge actually specified 1975, but in the above passage he does not say that another Blavatsky will appear, but rather that one of the Mahatmas will be the messenger and of course they hardly ever appear in public.

Many wanted to believe that their special leader was the embodiment of comeback. And the plethora of "enlightened" gurus did nothing to dissuade their followers from conceiving such heroic thoughts.

For example, Benjamin Creme opted for Maitreya, Elizabeth Clare Prophet for his "Ascended Masters". Bhagwan Rajneesh and even the Dalai Lama were considered by some to be the messenger, although the latter cannot be placed in the same category as the others.

But we now know that none of the above was responsible for the phenomenon witnessed in the last quarter of a century . »
(Fohat Magazine, Autumn 2007)

The reflection made by the Theosophical historian Walter Carrithers on November 20, 1975 on the delay of the new messenger:

- " The new bearer of the torch of truth" Why your delay?

Why was there no messenger in the 20th century?

In the following two articles you can read the opinion of the United Lodge of Theosophists on this matter:

my opinion

In the 20th century, I don't see a particular person standing out, although there was undoubtedly a great leap in the spread of esotericism or, if you prefer, mystical spirituality. I remember that as a child there was almost no information about it, I only found a few Theosophical and Rosicrucian books [if I was already looking for information since I was a child]. Whereas now the bookstores are full of books dealing with esotericism in all imaginable subjects!

I suspect that this time the strategy was changed , since after having seen the deviations to which the Theosophical Society was led , the Masters, instead of concentrating the effort on only the Theosophical Movement, sought that all esoteric teaching that until then had been hidden in congregations, became public.

How they did it?

If you read How does the hierarchy guide humanity?   You will see that it is mainly through inspirations. I think that the egregore that the Masters created inspired the people who possessed the occult knowledge to spread it to make it accessible to the general public. And in that aspect I consider that the effort was a success, but since humanity is not yet perfect, this inspiration was also distorted by many individuals:
  • Those with selfish ambitions saw an opportunity to profit by exploiting the subject, charging for courses, and publishing books even though they didn't really know the subject. Those who had proselytizing talent ended up creating real sects.
  • And there are also individuals who wanted to teach in good faith, but not having enough or correct knowledge, they transmitted erroneous teachings, confusing many students.
  • For this reason, my main objective in this blog is to convey to you a synthesis of my experience to prevent you from falling into the same mistakes that I did and to help you in your search for spirituality and knowledge.

Unfortunately there is NO other way to advance humanity. For every step that is taken, a large percentage of people will stumble, but the small number that tread well will support humanity as a whole in the end moving forward.

The teachings of the divine Hierarchy in the 20th century

Although there was no messenger from the masters, I have found several teachings that I consider to have been transmitted by the masters and by superior beings of the divine Hierarchy, and curiously all of these teachings respect this rule.

For example:

  • The lectures given by the teacher Pastor (who I believe does belong to the Fraternity of Teachers) were held from 1985 to 1994.
  • The book " A Course in Miracles " (which I believe was transmitted by a member who also belongs to the Fraternity of Teachers), although it was telepathically dictated to Helen Schucman from 1965 to 1972, was only published from 1975 .
  • The book " The Angel's Response " (which I consider to be authentic) although communication with angels occurred during World War II, the first publication also only took place in 1975 .

So, as you can see for yourselves, the divine Hierarchy is respecting that rule, and obviously this does not mean that all the instructors who taught, and all the books that were published, and all the schools that were founded outside of that period , be false .

But it does indicate that all of them are not directly related to the Masters , since although it can continue to be transmitted after that indicated period . On the other hand, the organization and the nucleus of the new teaching that is going to be established , if it should be done within the allowed period .

WHY SO LITTLE TIME ?

I read somewhere that depending on karma, that 25-year period at the end of each century can be increased or decreased. But even so some may consider that if the objective of the Great Brotherhood is to evolve humanity, it is quite contradictory to restrict the period of greatest effort to only a quarter of the time.

But this is because we are currently in the Kali-Yuga (the Dark Age) during which humanity must purge all the karma accumulated in the previous cycles and therefore the limitations are very great.
And in this regard, the master Kuthumi specified :

« The cycles must go through their rounds. The periods of mental and moral light and darkness follow each other like day and night. The major and minor yugas must be fulfilled according to the established order of things. And we [the Masters], born along the mighty [evolutionary] tide, can only modify and direct some of its lesser currents. »
(CM p.499)

MORE DETAILS ABOUT THIS CYCLE

Below I put the information that other relevant theosophists gave about this work that the teachers carry out in the last quarter of each century.

WILLIAM QUAN JUDGE

William Judge was Blavatsky's main collaborator, and he also spoke about this period in several of his articles:

The Age of Masters

« A torrent of spiritual force flows over the world at the end of each century, by the will of the Masters. And this influence begins in the last twenty-five years of the century and ends at the end of that century, to begin again only in the last quarter of the following century. »
(Le Lotus Bleu, January 1895, p.527)

An Important Cycle

« In the affairs of the Theosophical Society and the Esoteric Section there is an important cycle which comes to an end in every century, and it is extensively mentioned in The Key to Theosophy from page 304 to 307.

The law is that the Adepts work most directly with humans and encompassing large populations during the last twenty-five years of each century, and then this effort stops for seventy-five years, starting again in the last quarter of the following century.

And many ask the question:

Why don't the Masters work without ceasing?

And the answer is that the Masters continue to work for humanity, but they stop the public efforts and only continue to do their work in a more hidden way, because if they continued beyond those twenty-five years, then there would be such a tremendous reaction that the very goal of that effort would be defeated. For example, instead of destroying dogmatism, a new dogmatism would be created to replace the old one that has been fought against, and men would really be no better than before.

And a careful reading of those pages from The Key to Theosophy quoted above will show exactly what the Masters want us to do in view of the approaching end of this cycle.

Blavatsky explains there that what is needed is not a greater technical knowledge of esoteric science, but a clear and impartial judgment, in order to avoid the hard and fast conclusions regarding the men, the things and the methods that are common. in the world.

And if we manage to bring the Theosophical Society to fruition well into the 20th century, there is a good chance that we can pass it on pure and undogmatic to our successors who, after our death, will keep it going until the next twenty-five year cycle.

At that time another messenger will come and in my opinion it will be the same being that now directs our efforts. And in such an event, an organization would be ready for its further work which might be fit for even greater things than our present Theosophical Society, and if this be so, then all our present endeavors will be crowned with success. But if, on the contrary, the members fail at this time, then the responsibility of each one of us will be great.

In view of this, it is hoped that the Esoteric Section will work to become the life and nucleus of the Theosophical movement, so that it may carry the spirit and genius of the movement through the seventy-five years beginning about the year 1900.

And if this is achieved, then in 1975 there will be an instrument ready for the returning Messenger to use for the last twenty-five years, instead of having to build it anew amid jars and discord such as have surrounded Blavatsky for years. last fifteen years.

Now, in The Key to Theosophy , she clearly states that the strength and power of this Esoteric Section in its ideal aspect will not be based so much on the occult technical knowledge of the members but on spiritual development, together with good sense. common that its members will have reached.

And by the time we are talking about, those of us who are currently in the Esoteric Section will have crossed the limits of mortal life. But our lives and thoughts will live after us in those who for the next ten years will become our associates and carry on the succession as we have left it to them.

May all who read this hear the call. A mental sacrifice is required, an abandonment of oneself, a renunciation of selfishness, a total devotion to this cause.

Altruism must become the line of our lives because only with that can the end sought be achieved. Understand that we are not associated in this Section for our own individual benefit, nor for the glory of HP Blavatsky, nor for the creation of new mysteries or dogmas, but only so that humans after us become brothers as we ourselves should. be.

Blavatsky will be gone before long, and by then we must have among us those in our own ranks who can point the way. And such favored units cannot develop out of our mass unless the total progress of the Esoteric Section is brought to the point where it can flourish »
(Echoes from the East III, p.283-5)

Theosophical Study and Work

« Blavatsky concludes in The Key to Theosophy by stating that the present Theosophical Society is one of those attempts made by the Masters to help the world, and the duty of each member is made clear that he has to preserve this organization with his original literature and plans to hand it over to our successors who will have it ready in the last quarter of the next century for the messenger of the Masters who will then, as now, reappear .

Failure or success in this duty is important because if we succeed, then in the 20th century that messenger will find the materials in books, and in popular thought and terms, that will enable him to carry the great work forward into a new one. stage, and by then without the fierce opposition and tremendous obstacles that have frowned upon us for the past fifteen years that have just closed.

But if, on the contrary, we fail, then the Messenger will again waste many precious years in preparing the ground again, and we will be responsible for that failure »
(Branch Papers No. 8, November 1890)

HPB

« His method was to found a Society whose efforts, however small in themselves, would inject into the thinking of the day: the ideas, the doctrines, the nomenclature of the Wisdom Religion, so that when the next century is over 75 years later, the new Messenger who will arrive in the world would find the Theosophical Society still in action, the sown ideas disseminated, the nomenclature ready to give expression and body to the immutable truth, and in this way would facilitate the task that instead for Blavatsky, since 1875 it was so difficult and so surrounded by obstacles »
(The Path, June 1891, p.68)

The Closing of the Cycle

« In the November number, Mr. Sinnett speaks of the "expiring cycle", and members are warned, and with good reason, not to be so naive as to believe that after 1897 "some mysterious extinguisher will descend upon us ".

Who is the person who gave the concrete statement that 1897 was going to be the end of a cycle in which something would happen?

It was HP Blavatsky. There is no doubt that she said it, and that she also explained it to various people. And there is also no doubt that she also mentioned, as has been said for so long ago, since the year 1875, that 1897 would witness the closing of a door.

But what door?  What is going to end?

Is it the Theosophical Society that is going to terminate and close all its lodges?

HP Blavatsky clearly stated, and on the direct authority of the Masters, that in the last twenty-five years of each century, the Lodge and its agents make an effort with the West, and this effort ceases in its direct form at the end of the twenty-fifth year.

Those who believe in it will consider this; and those who think they know more about this matter than she does, will invent other ideas to suit her fantasies.

She explained, as did all those taught by the same Masters, that if the public effort were longer than that, then there would be a reaction very similar to indigestion. That is why assimilation must be given time, or the "dark shadow that follows all innovations" would crush the soul of man. The great public, the mass, must have time and also material. Time is immense and therefore there is time to go step by step.

And the material for study in this century has been provided by the Masters in the work done by Blavatsky through her books.

She has said that the Masters helped her write The Secret Doctrine so that for the future seventy-five years and beyond, people would have some material to work with, and that in the years to come that book and its theories would be widely studied. The material delivered must then be incorporated and assimilated for the well-being of all.

Therefore no extinguisher will fall on us and the Theosophical Society as a whole will not fail to receive the unceasing care of the Masters in every part, but must grow to maturity in what it already has with the help of the few who They are elected".

HP Blavatsky has made it clear in her book The Key to Theosophy that the plan is to keep the Theosophical Society alive as an active, free and non-sectarian body during the whole time of waiting until the next great messenger arrives, which will be herself. beyond all doubt.

That way you will be given the right tool to work with again on a larger scale, and without the terrible opposition from without and from within when you started this time around. And in all this waiting time, the Master, "that great Initiate, whose one will sustains the whole movement", will have his mighty hand extended behind the Theosophical Society.

Until 1897 the door will be open to all who have the courage, the strength and the virtue to try it, so that they can enter and make a contact with the Lodge of the Masters that will not be broken at all when the cycle is over. But when the hour strikes, the door will close, and regardless of the pleas and cries, it will not open until the next cycle. Those who have made the connection will have their own door open, but the general public door will be closed. And that is the true explanation of the "extinguisher" as given by HP Blavatsky and the Master »
(The Irish Theosophist, January 15, 1895, p.54)

Will the help of the Masters be withdrawn from 1898 to 1975?

« It is now widely known among the members of the Theosophical Society that at the end of each century the Masters carry out a spiritual impulse in the world, which takes place in the last twenty-five years of the century and is not repeated until the following century. .

But this has been greatly exaggerated and greatly misunderstood, to the point that many conclude that then, over the course of the next few years, the Masters will withdraw completely from all work in the world and leave us all to fend for ourselves.

Most people seem to think that no help will be provided after that time. But I consider that this is incorrect and I will try to explain it as it was explained to me by the promoter of this theory: HP Blavatsky.

The Masters are governed by the law of action and reaction, and are always wise enough not to do that which could result in undoing all their previous work. The law of reaction applies as much to the mind of man as to physical things and forces. And by going too far at one point with the release of a great force on the mental plane, the consequence would be that a reaction of superstition and evil of all kinds would undo everything.

Superstition still rules the world, and for the Masters the world is not limited to the Western peoples. In the West, following the historical cycles, a great and definite effort is made among the people (for example with Theosophical Society) to help the esoteric and spiritual development of man.

Among other reasons, for not keeping up the display of much force, is that if it went too far, many unsuspecting people whose moral senses are not well governed, would accept all our theories and follow them in the line of pure selfishness for business and other purposes. .

That is why, among others, HP Blavatsky began to loosen up her phenomena some time before her departure, although as far as I know she was able to do them to the end, and she did many of them, and some of the most marvelous ones up to the last moment. .

But publicly it was not like that, and some have taken advantage of that decrease to say that the reason for this alteration was because she came to the conclusion that it had been a mistake to make them, but I do not believe it at all. It was part of a well-understood campaign and order.

At the end of the twenty-five years, the Masters will not send forth in such a large and overwhelming volume the force that they sent during the twenty-five years. But that does not mean that they will withdraw, but that they will let ideas germinate in the minds of the people in general, but they will never take away from those who deserve it, the help that is due to them and is given to all who ask for it.

However, many will have gone further by that time than others, and those who have thus passed into the state of selfless love for the good of humanity will be given continued help and guidance. Many, however, within and without the Theosophical Society will remain so selfish that they will have to be content with what they get from others and from general development.

HPB was quite definite on this and her statement matches the story. During all the centuries there have been many people who have had the direct and valuable help of the Masters, and to suppose that at the end of our present twenty-five years all that will be over, is an absurdity in itself »
(The Path, November 1894, p.237)

CLAUDE FALLS WRIGHT

Claude Wright was a student of Blavatsky's and the last secretary she had during the last three years of her life, and on this subject he wrote the following:

« Blavatsky frequently mentioned to me in connection with this matter, that the work carried out during the last twenty-five years of each century by the Masters and Occultists who generally belong to the Brotherhood, has been a public work or almost as public as could be made, according to the era and the enlightenment of the people they had to deal with.

At all times they have helped and worked with individuals, but for the last twenty-five years of every century conditions in the mental and psychic world are such as to permit work with large groups of people, while after that the work is more or less limited. to a few.

And this is because it is then the Spring of the Cycle, when good and bad trends and changes quickly emerge. But there has always been an attempt to create an Order or association which should be able to live and carry on the work along the original lines from one century to the next.

Until now, his desire after the end of the century has been to continue offering his help, not only after the end of the cycle, but always and at all times. But the cyclical conditions are what prevent the influx of spiritual wisdom from openly continuing after the closing of the cycle.

But Blavatsky also told me that the amount of spiritual energy, however small, has been enough to keep the world thinking about these matters well into the next century, giving as an example a train that runs at full speed, even if the steam is cut off afterwards; it will still continue to travel a long distance after that if not prevented.

And the work will by no means end directly when the cycle is finished. On the contrary, she said that the effort is to educate various people who will be able to preserve the spirit of the effort and keep in touch with the Masters from the end of one public attempt to the beginning of another. And this is the meaning of the words pronounced by one of the Adepts:

-      "As long as three people remain faithful to the Brotherhood, the Theosophical Society will continue to live."

And if this is their promise, it only remains for each member to become one of these three so that the Society continues to receive active help from the Masters all the time.

So it is remembered that it is not because the Masters withdraw their help at all that so much work is not done at one time as at another, but because it is less possible to make changes in the psychic atmosphere during certain seasons than at others. And for the Society to live and continue to be active in the next century as it is now, we have only to educate ourselves as Followers of the Light »
(The Path, November 1894, p.239)

OTHER TEXTS

The following text is part of the preliminary Memorandum of the teachings that were given to the members of the Esoteric Section, and that it was a school that prepared those who wanted to become future disciples of the Masters.

« Every member should know that the time for this invaluable acquisition is limited. The author of the present text [Blavatsky] is old, her life is almost exhausted, and she can be called "home" at any time. And even if she was replaced by someone more dignified and wise than her. Only twelve years remain until the last hour of the term, namely December 31, 1899.

Those who have not taken advantage of the opportunity (given to the world in the last quarter of each century), those who have not reached a certain point of psychic and spiritual development, or that point from which the cycle of the Adept begins, from that date they will no longer advance beyond the knowledge already acquired.

No Trans-Himalayan Master of Wisdom is going to appear or send someone to Europe or America after that period, and the idlers are going to have to give up all possibility of advancement in their present reincarnation - until the year 1975. Such is the Law, for we are in the Kali Yuga (the Dark Age) and the restrictions in this cycle, the first 5,000 years which expire in 1897, are great and almost insurmountable »
(Caldwell, The Esoteric Papers of HP Blavatsky)

And this is in accordance with what the teacher Kuthumi wrote:

« If for generations we have "closed the door of Knowledge, of our Knowledge" to the world, that is due to its great inability to grasp and accept it, and if despite the tests that have been given to it, it still refuses to surrender in the face of evidence, then at the end of this cycle, we will retire once more to solitude and our realm of silence »
(CM 9, p.50)

And there is a minor septenary cycle that develops within that period of externalization of the Hierarchy. In this regard, Master Morya said:

« On November 17, 1882, the Septenary term of proof that was given to the Theosophical Society when it was founded in 1875 to discreetly "reveal" us will expire. ... And if it fails the test, then the effort would be suspended until the beginning of another seven-year cycle when, if circumstances were more propitious, another attempt could be made under the same or another direction »
(CM 44, p.263)
