The
Rosicrucian Digest magazine is the fourth public AMORC magazine created by its founder Harvey Spencer Lewis, succeeding his previous magazine The Mystic Triangle
and continues to be published to this day.
This
magazine began publication in late 1929. From October 1929 to 1987 it was
published monthly, then bimonthly until 1991, then quarterly to the present.
AMORC by
then had already acquired enough success worldwide and that is why this
magazine also began to be distributed worldwide, AMORC describes it as "The Official International Rosicrucian Magazine of the World-Wide
Rosicrucian Order".
Its
publishing house is located at AMORC's headquarters in San Jose, California.
The first editor was Spencer Lewis, then his son Ralph Lewis, and since then
several people have been taking turns.
Spencer Lewis concentrate the
propaganda function of his organization into this magazine, while
reserving the more private lessons of his students for the magazine companion The Rosicrucian
Forum.
Lewis wrote in the journal as
"Imperator","Royle Thurston" (the pseudonym he had earlier
used in writing for The Future) and other names.
The journal included generic
articles on esoterism, pseudo-esoterism, Christian occultism, psychic
development, the reports on the activities of the various lodges, and
advertisements for the order's various books, services, emblems, incense,
membership apron, candlesticks, identifying stickers for cars, etc.
