THE EXPERIENCES THAT GLEB DERYUZHINSKY HAD WITH THE ROERICHS

Gleb Vladimirovich Deryuzhinsky (1888-1975) was a Russian sculptor who emigrated to the United States on 1919, and in Helena Roerich's diary it appears that he participated in several of the spiritist sessions that the Roerichs held in New York, and below I transcribe the messages they received about it.

Previously in the séance that Helena and Nicholas Roerich held on February 2, 1921, their master Allal Ming told them:

 

-      They urgently need help—to Deryuzhinsky, the M. P. martyr

-      Curse the Lord and His Creation.

 

(Cid's remark: Gleb Deryuzhinsky was very upset because his four and a half year old niece named Shurochka had recently passed away.)

 

And to the question about how to help Deryuzhinsky, Allal Ming replied:

 

-     He will learn later.

 

And then Allal Ming commented:

 

-      Follow the path of expansion in everything.

-       I will also appoint Deryuzhinsky.

-      Initially there should be eight participants.

Gleb Deryuzhinsky accompanied the Roerichs at the séance they held on March 6, 1921, and this occasion Allal-Ming, Shurochka and Deryuzhinsky 's father (who had also passed away) communicated. Helena Roerich in her notebook No. 1 wrote:

The usual three punches of Allal-Ming were this time accompanied by another three weak and very short punches.

 

To the question: What do those three little extra hits mean?

It was answered: Shurochka made them.

 

Then Shurochka said :

 

-      Uncle Gleb, pray for grandfather, he is thinking about you.

-      Uncle Gleb, do not make friends with a poisonous, wild, tall dog, it is dangerous for the plague, so beware of a dog bite. Better delete it.

-      Uncle, dear, better take home a kind and good dog, I will let you know when necessary.

 

When asked if she would tell her mother something, Shurochka replied:

 

-      Mom, repress the penalty, the penalty reaches me. I beg you.

 

Then Deryuzhinsky's father began to speak:

 

-      Dear Gleb, take care of your soul from a wild dog. Another soul is allowed into the house (the spirit of a traitor). Deliver another soul to the Russian house.

 

Then Shurochka said:

 

-      Uncle, do not get married, a whole wave of joy awaits you.

-      Uncle Gleb, do not marry, you can bring a bad influence home through a dog.

-      Dear uncle, on the day of my death, order a service in the cathedral (fortieth day)

 

Question: Where is Allal-Ming?

Shurochka's reply: On the sofa and Shurochka is nearby.

 

Our request that Shurochka give a description of Allal-Ming was followed by:

 

-      He has an elongated face, long hair, tall stature, black hair, double beard.

 

To the question, strict or kind face?

Answer: Strict.

 

Shurochka was asked to describe Allal-Ming.

 

Answer: Scarf on the body, curly hair, I forcefully twist the hairs of Allal-Ming. Her nose is long, he wears a long domino.

 

(Helena Roerich noted that it does not resemble the portrait drawn at a London session.)

 

To the question: how would Gleb have been warned about the danger if he had not come?

Answer: Allal-Ming brought him.

 

Then Allal-Ming said:

 

-      Obey Roerich, I guide him in happy achievements.

 

Then Shurochka said:

 

-      Dear Uncle Deruzhinsky, Ilyashenko does not love you. Give Ilyashenko, through Roerich, a task to help dad.

 

Then Allal-Ming said:

 

-      Have more confidence in My words.

 

To the question: How can we thank you for your concern for us?

Answer: Love me.

 

Then Shurochka was asked to describe how she was dressed.

 

Answer: They gave me my dress, white with knee-highs, white stockings, leather shoes, white shoulder-length curls. We're going home with my grandfather.

 

Question: Where is your house?

Answer: In Dokiuda.

 

At the request of Deryuzhinsky, Shurochka was asked to say something before parting:

 

-      Dear Gleb, give your brother a watch and a pipe, wear glasses, take a razor.

 

Question: What is your opinion of Allal-Ming?

Shurochka's answer: Young man, they gave him a house and a rare tree.

 

Question: Why do you need a house and a tree?

Answer: For necessary new lessons, he lives with children (18 people). The grandfather also lives in the house and studies.

 

Question: Where does Allal-Ming live?

Answer: In a house in Dokiuda. Three of them live there: Allal-Ming, Chog-Dir, Ramses.

At the séance held on March 20, 1921, Gleb Deryuzhinsky again accompanied Helena and Nicholas Roerich; the spirits communicated in this session were the same, and the messages were the following:

 

Three big blows were accompanied by three small ones - Shurochka is here.

 

-       Let Uncle Gleb not hit the dog, and let Rosenberg give a sea rope to tie the dog, his serum is certainly poisonous.

-      Uncle treats Allal-Ming and Roerich better.

-      Love your country and don't become an American citizen.

-      Uncle, the New Roerich will show brilliant power to the Russians.

-      The spirits of the protected grove do not need to be shaken. Believe it!

-      The new head of Deryuzhinsky is Fugia Possudh, he was a Dalmatian in the 10th century AD, a food seller.

 

To Deryuzhinsky's question: What is remarkable about Fugia?

Answer: Dear uncle, do not offend Fugia.

 

Question: Where are they?

Answer: We sit on the sofa with grandfather, Allal-Ming lies on the back of the sofa.

 

Then Deryuzhinskiy's father said:

 

-      Your father loves you, dear Gleb, but save your strength and do not betray the Russian cause.

 

Shurochka said:

 

-      Uncle, there is no need to suffer, uncle, love mom, dad, they suffer, but fate cannot be changed.

 

Question. Why can't you tell Yaga something?

Answer: You will not believe.

 

Question: What to do with the father's items?

Answer: Save.

 

Allal-Ming addressing Nicholas Roerich:

 

         - Go to Prince.

 

Then the messages of Allal-Ming and Shurochka alternate:

 

-      Uncle, be friends with Roerich.

-      Show your mother the groves of the Spirits, the Spirits need recognition. I will show my garden in Dokiuda. Roerich draws.

-      Your disbelief hurts you.

-      Go deeper. Take this advice.

-      Uncle, be friends with Roerich.

-      I'll tell you when you can visit Rosenberg.

-   (Helena Roerich pointed out that the number 28 was given without explanation.)

-      Uncle, be friends with Roerich! Befriend Roerich.

-      Dear uncle, don't smoke - it's bad for me.

-      Nicotine gives annoying vibrations.

-   (Helena Roerich pointed out that the phrase "uncle, be friends with Roerich" was repeated ten times.)

-      The Ellario tree has blue flowers that look like bells. The height of the tree is 3 sazhens: Shurochka's house is lower, the height is 5 arshes. Built in stone, white. Green mountains behind the house - The name of the mountain - Urduya - in the language of the Principles.

 

[Note: Sazhen is an old Russian measure of length equal to about 2.13 m, and Arshin is also an old Russian measure of length equal to about 0.71 m.]

 

-      Icarus is Rodin's work on the astral plane.

 

Question; Is Icarus faithfully reproduced by Deryuzhinskiy?

Answer: No, there are changes to the wing. Rodin's lower wing covers Icarus knees, while the upper wing is directed into space.

At the seance held on May 7, 1921, Gleb Deryuzhinsky accompanied the Roerichs for the third time, and this occasion only Allal-Ming and Shurochka communicated.

 

Allal Ming said:

 

-      I love you and I am by your side.

-      I consider the path of teaching that the manifestation of the Light will come upon you.

-      Teach and love the manifestation of God's mercy.

 

Question: Will Rosenberg die from the operation?

Answer: If he dies, I consider it for the best.

 

-      Hurry up to find out….. I consider it necessary that you meet Mor…. Blackberry…. the sea…. subway...

-      The Spirit will tell you what to do.

-      You don't know how to pay attention to warnings.

-      I can't talk too much about your destinations.

 

To Deryuzhinsky's statement that he was inconvenienced because of his hints.

Answer: Let us not touch the fearful.

 

Then Helena Roerich noted that answers were obtained to a series of questions asked by Deryuzhinsky , of incomprehensible meaning for the Roerichs, the results of which were the enlightenment of Deryuzhinsky and the mention of unfinished words: more, more ... (Moravsky).

 

Then Shurochka said:

 

-      Uncle, love your mother, she suffers, she has no lover.

-      Uncle, love your mother.

-      Dude, be smart.

-      Kosice is on a dangerous path.

At the séance held on May 22, 1921, Allal Ming told the Roerichs:

 

-      I consider that by avoiding the different fate of Deryuzhinsky, Roerich helps to create worse karma.

-       It is better not to believe at all than to show an insulting attitude (towards séances).

 

(Cid's remark: I get the impression that Allal Ming resented Mr. Deryuzhinsky's disapproval.)

At the séance held on June 1, 1921, Gleb Deryuzhinsky returned to accompany the Roerichs for the fourth time, and this occasion only Allal-Ming communicated .

 

Allal Ming said:

 

-      I reveal the force.

-      I establish.

-      I'll make you happy.

-      I want to teach you.

-      I consider you my disciple (referring to Helena Roerich).

-      I-I-I-I-I!

-      Perceive—I will help—perceive—Happiness awaits.

-      I provide—I teach—I—I—I—capture.

 

Then turning to Deryuzhinsky:

 

-      Pray to Christ!

-      Enough.

At the séance held on June 5, 1921, Allal Ming told the Roerichs:

 

-       I did not promise happiness and joy (to Deryuzhinsky).

At the séance held on June 23, 1921, Helena Roerich pointed out that they held an incident with Gleb Deryuzhinsky, and Allal Ming told them:

 

-       Deryuzhinsky loses the path of the spirit.

-      I give Deryuzhinsky six months of probation, do not touch his affairs.

At the séance held on July 3, 1921, Allal Ming told the Roerichs:

 

-      Deryuzhinsky says bad things about the portrait of Urusvati [Helena Roerich].

-       Deryuzhinsky spreads lies about you.

-       Deryuzhinsky expresses lies.

At the séance held on October 2, 1921, Helena Roerich noted that they had a conversation about Deryuzhinsky with Mr. B. A. Bolm, and then Allal Ming informed them:

 

-      You cannot save a fierce soul, you cannot save Deryuzhinsky from his karma.

-       I sent him a message but to no avail.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

OBSERVATIONS

 

We see that Gleb Deryuzhinsky initially took an interest to the Roerichs, partly because they too were Russian, and partly because he was very grieved by the recent death of his niece, and surely the Roerichs must have told him that they could help him communicate with the spirit of his niece.

 

But Deryuzhinsky later became disillusioned by the inconsistencies he witnessed at the Roerichs' séances, and this caused the Roerichs' teacher to become hostile towards him.

 

And this is further proof that Allal Ming was not Master Morya as the Roerichs later asserted, but he was a trickster astral entity; and this also shows that the Roerichs were very naive because even a sculptor who knew nothing about esotericism realized that something did not add up in the communications that the Roerichs had with their "master".
