Carlos Castaneda kept his identity very secret, but over time some photos of him have appeared.

 

 

This is the oldest photograph I have found of him, where he appears as a little child with his parents and sister:

This photo is said to have been taken in 1962 and the woman appearing next to Castaneda is Mary Joan Barker who was one of his numerous lovers:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This photo is said to have been taken in 1964 and the child accompanying it is probably the son that Castaneda adopted with his second wife:

 

 

 

 

 

This photograph appeared in several newspaper articles announcing his death on April 27, 1998, at the age of 73, but I'm not sure it's really him.
