THE SEALS OF AMORC

 

 

At the end of chapter two of the book Rosicrucian Manual (1990) the following figures appear with the title “Some of the official seals of AMORC”.

 

(Note: These symbols did not appear in earlier editions of this book and were added later by the AMORC editors.)

 

 

   1.   General symbol of the Order in the world

   2.   The Great Seal of the Supreme Council

   3.   The Seal and Sign of the Supreme Treasurer

   4.   The Seal of the Founder

   5.   Original Emblem worn by the Fratres and Sorores

   6.   The Rosae Crucis (official)

   7.   The Seal and Sign of the Supreme Secretary

   8.   Great Seal of the Grand Master

   9.  The Sacred Insignia of the Imperator

 

 

 

 

 

 

OBSERVATIONS

 

The Egyptian figure (fig. 4) is the name of Thutmosis III written in hieroglyphs.

 

 

But it is false that this pharaoh was the founder of the Rosicrucians, this was a lie invented by Spencer Lewis; and also Lewis wrote it wrong since the hieroglyphic in the middle he put it with three rectangular protruding partsupwards when in the original hieroglyphic there are seven spikes.

 

 

 

The figure where a cross appears with a rose in the middle (fig. 6) was invented by the neo-Rosicrucians.

But this is not the original symbol since the first Rosicrucians put a big rose with a small cross in its center as the following document from 1615 attests.

 

 

 

 

The figure where the cross with a rose is inserted into a square and compass (fig. 5) was invented by the Freemasons; and therefore it is not "the original emblem worn by the Rosicrucian brothers and sisters" as stated above.

 

 

 

 

And the other figures were invented by Spencer Lewis, the founder of AMORC, but his figures do not have an esoteric foundation nor do they correspond to Rosicrucian symbolism (see link).

 

And this is one more example that shows how Lewis was very ignorant in esoteric matters.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ANTECEDENTS

 

Initially these figures appeared in a newspaper article that Lewis paid to promote his newly founded AMORC organization in February 1915. This article was published in The Port Wayne Journal-Gazette of New York on April 2, 1916, p. 46:

 

 

Notice how at the beginning of the article it is specified that «  the symbols on this page are copyrighted, 1915, from "The American Rosae Crucis" » which was the first magazine that AMORC published; and you yourselves can sense the commercialism of Spencer Lewis from the early days of AMORC.

 

I have not seen that Lewis put those symbols in his first magazine, but he did put them in his second magazine titled Croomat, which was reserved solely for AMORC members.

 

And here one wonders:

 

Why Lewis have shown those symbols publicly if it was to later pretend that it was information reserved for AMORC members?

 

And this is one of the many blunders that Spencer Lewis made.

 

 

Those symbols appeared in Cromaat's second publication (B, 1918, p.30):

 

 

 

 

In the middle there is a photo and Lewis specifies that it is:

 

“The photo of the original French sponsorship document and its metallic envelope.”

 

 

And if you are wondering why AMORC later removed this photo when it re-published those seals, that is because in this photo Spencer Lewis made a huge mistake that shows his tremendous charlatanism and which I detail in this other article (see link).
