WHAT DOES ALICE BAILEY THINK ABOUT SPIRITISM?

Alice Bailey in her book “Esoteric Psychology I”, she wrote:

« The psychics of the world are increasing greatly in number, and the growing sensitivity of the race to impression is a cause of rejoicing and of danger.  All over the world aspirants are registering contacts hitherto unknown, are seeing a phenomenal world usually hidden to them, and are generally becoming aware of an expansion of consciousness.  They are registering a world of phenomena—often astral, sometimes mental, and occasionally egoic—which does initiate them into a new dimension of consciousness and into a different state of being.  This expansion of consciousness serves both to encourage them in their endeavour and to complicate the way of the aspirant.  This growing sensitivity is universal; hence the rapid growth of spiritualism»
(p.97-98)

And in her book “A Treatise on the Cosmic Fire”, she added:

« Phenomena are occurring all the time which remain in the domain of the supernatural unless accounted for through the medium of etheric matter, and in their anxiety to prove the spiritualists wrong, scientists have aided the cause of the true and higher spiritism by falling back on reality, and on the fact of the etheric body. »
(p.88-89)

We see that Alice Bailey is in favor of spiritism. And in fact, she is so in favor of spiritism that she wants to make her readers believe that the Shamballa Masters also support spiritism so much, that they work for the development of spiritism in the world.

And that's why Alice Bailey in her book “Initiation, Human and Solar”, she wrote:

« Master Hilarion was who initiated (through various pupils of His) the Spiritist movement. He has under observation all those who are psychics of the higher order, and assists in developing their powers for the good of the group, and in connection with certain of the devas of the astral plane He works to open up to the seekers after truth that subjective world which lies behind the grossly material. »
(p.58-59)

But this is a great falsehood because in reality the Masters of Shamballa are AGAINST spiritism as evidenced by the statement made by Master Kuthumi on that subject:

« If only mediums and spiritists knew that with each new spirit to which they welcome, the damage they are causing to that poor soul in pain, and that with each new session (and especially in those that materialize) they are multiplying the causes of misery that will make the unfortunate soul frustrate his spiritual birth or be born in a much worse existence than before. If only the spiritists knew this, then they would probably be less lavish with their hospitality to the spirits.

And now you will be able to understand why we [the Trans-Himalayan Masters] are so strongly opposed to spiritism and mediumship. »
(ML 16, p.113)

One of the reasons why Alice Bailey is in favor of spiritism is because she believes that the evolution of humanity is accompanied by an increasingly close relationship between the physical world and the astral world.

And that's why in her book “The Externalization of the Hierarchy”, she wrote:

« One of the results of the world condition at this time is the speeding up of all the atomic lives upon and within the planet. This necessarily involves the increased vibratory activity of the human mechanism, with a consequent effect upon the psychic nature, producing an abnormal sensitivity and psychic awareness. »
(p.3)

And in her lucubrations, Alice Bailey believed that the First World War would have been beneficial because it had allowed approaching the physical world to the astral world:

« Through the power of prolonged sound, carried forward as a great experiment on the battlefields all over the world during a period of four years (1914-1918), and through the intense emotional strain of the entire planetary populace, the web of etheric matter (called the "veil of the temple") which separates the physical and astral planes was rent or torn asunder, and the amazing process of unifying the two worlds of physical plane living and of astral plane experience was begun and is now slowly going on. »
(p.4)

But this is completely opposite to what the Masters (and their true disciples) say, since they explain that humans are currently extremely badly influenced and besieged by the dark entities of the lower astral. And if the boundary between these two worlds were reduced, the pernicious effects of those harmful entities on humanity would still be much more damaging.

And that is the second reason why they disapprove the practice of Spiritism as Blavatsky explained it in this article:

« The more I see of spiritist séances in this cradle and hotbed of spiritists and mediums, the more clearly I see how dangerous they are for humanity. Poets speak of a thin partition between the two worlds. But there is no partition whatever.

Blind people have imagined obstacles of this kind because coarse organs of hearing, sight, and feeling do not allow the majority of people to penetrate the difference of being.

Besides, Mother-Nature has done well in endowing us with coarse senses, for otherwise the individuality and personality of man would become impossible, because the dead would be continually mixing with the living, and the living would assimilate themselves with the dead.

It would not be so bad if there were around us only spirits of the same kind as ourselves, the half-spiritual refuse of mortals who died without having reconciled themselves to the great necessity of death. Then we might submit to the inevitable.

One way or another, we cannot help identifying ourselves physically and in a perfectly unconscious way with the dead, absorbing the constituent atoms of what lived before us: with every breath we inhale them, and breathe out that which nourishes the formless creatures, elementals floating in the air in the expectation of being transformed into living beings.

This is not only a physical process, but partly a moral one. We assimilate those who preceded us, gradually absorbing their brain-molecules and exchanging mental auras — which means thoughts, desires, and tendencies.

This is an interchange common to the entire human race and to all that lives. A natural process, an outcome of the laws of the economy of nature, and it explains similarities, external and moral.

But there exists another absolute law, which manifests itself periodically and sporadically: this is a law, as it were, of artificial and compulsory assimilation.

During epidemics of this kind the kingdom of the dead invades the region of the living, though fortunately this kind of refuse are bound by the ties of their former surroundings. And so, when evoked by mediums, they cannot break through the limits and boundaries in which they acted and lived.

And the wider the doors are opened to them the further the necromantic epidemic is spread; the more unanimous the mediums and the spiritists in spreading the magnetic fluid of their evocations, the more power and vitality are acquired by the glamour.

It stands to reason that this mere earthly refuse, irresistibly drawn to the earth, cannot follow the soul and spirit — these highest principles of man's being.

With horror and disgust I often observed how a reanimated shadow of this kind separated itself from the inside of the medium; how, separating itself from his astral body and clad in someone else's vesture, it pretended to be someone's relation, causing the person to go into ecstasies and making people open wide their hearts and their embraces to these shadows whom they sincerely believed to be their dear fathers and brothers, resuscitated to convince them of life eternal, as well as to see them.

Oh, if they only knew the truth, if they only believed! If they saw, as I have often seen, a monstrous, bodiless creature seizing hold of someone present at these spiritistic sorceries! It wraps the man as if with a black shroud, and slowly disappears in him as if drawn into his body by each of his living pores. »
(The Path, February 1895)

And in this article, William Judge added that:

« Madame Vera Jelihovsky says that: "Helena Petrovna described many séances in terms of horror in consequence of the sights she was enabled to see as a result of her clairvoyance. She saw details hidden from the others present: perfect invasions of hosts of soulless remains of mortals, 'woven of fleshly passions, of evil thoughts, of vicious feelings which had outlived the body'." »

And not content with proclaiming the opposite of what the Masters taught, Alice Bailey also invented falsehoods, since in her book "The Destiny of the Nations", she stated:

« Spiritualism was the religion of old Atlantis»
(p.43)

But that is incorrect, because Blavatsky specified that:

« The Secret Doctrine was the universally diffused religion of the ancient and prehistoric world»
(DS I, p. xxxiv)

CONCLUSION

This is one more example of how Alice Bailey pretends to be a messenger of the wisdom teachers, but in reality she is transmitting false and even opposite things for what they taught.
